This basketball court used to be the training ground for the girls' basketball team of Jimei School in the 30s of the 20th century, and thanks to the strong support of Mr. Tan Kah Kee, the school's women's basketball has developed rapidly. At that time, the school set up a tall and high-quality women's basketball team, which achieved remarkable results in southern Fujian and was known as one of the top three in the country at that time. In 1933, the team was also invited to Singapore and Malaysia to exchange with the local overseas Chinese basketball team, an action known as the "Star Horse Trip".
The basketball court at the event site was the training ground for the women's basketball team that year, and the surrounding Shangzhong buildings were national key cultural relics protection units.
