I often hear some companies worry or complain, "We have implemented a lot of management systems, and now we are going to introduce the 'excellent performance management system', and I feel that there are too many systems and too many ...... will increase our management difficulty and pressure."”
First of all, I understand the concerns of enterprise managers very well, it is not easy to do business, less "management" is not enough, more "management" increases costs, and it is not easy to do it properly.
But in the midst of these concerns, I personally believe that there are several misunderstandings.
First, it is easy to know and difficult to tailor
Enterprises should introduce management systems according to their own needs, not necessarily the pursuit of more and faster, but should pursue refinement and practicality.
At present, a series of management systems such as ISO9001 (quality management system), ISO14001 (environmental management system), ISO45001 (occupational health and safety management system), ISO27001 (information security management system) and so on have been implementedIt is a series of management standards issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and they are all management systemsThe International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standardizes, normalizes and systematizes the work of a module, promotes and shares it with the organizations that need it, with the aim of solving the problem of management fragmentation and human governance, improving the management efficiency and effectiveness of a module (such as quality management), and allowing all employees to develop correct behavior habits and form a higher professional quality.
The correct logic should be that the enterprise feels an urgent need to introduce the relevant management system is the most natural and normal, but now the situation is pressing, some enterprises do not quite understand the purpose and significance of the management system, there is no urgent need for the management system, and do not have a certain management foundation, so it is directly on the three systems or more, for some enterprises, it is inevitable that there is a phenomenon of pulling out the seedlings to help grow, they do not think that the management system has solved any problem for them, but think that it is increasing the management burden. Therefore, I personally feel that enterprises do not need to pursue "fast", but in the process of management, they do feel that there is an urgent need to introduce them, and they do not need to pursue more, and introduce one after another when they are mature.
2. Open your horizon and draw a frame
Strictly speaking, the "Performance Excellence Standard" is not a management system, but a management framework, or a management system, which aims to allow the management personnel of the organization to have a systematic vision and thinking, and to look at the operation and management of the enterprise from a systematic point of view.
The Performance Excellence Guidelines are more of an evaluation frameworkCorrespondingly, "excellent performance management" cannot be said to be a management system, it has never required enterprises to do soIt only provides a relatively complete and systematic management framework for enterprises as a reference, so that managers can understand that there are so many management activities in an organization, and there is a certain relationship between them, and when making any management or decision-making, it is necessary to take into account the consistency, relevance and systematization of all aspects of managementFor example, when adjusting the development strategy of the enterprise, it is necessary to take into account the matching of people, finance, materials, information technology and infrastructure.
All the basic management system is compliance evaluation, that is to say, what the system requires, the enterprise needs to do this, and the management system is the internal law of enterprise management to a certain extent. The core of performance excellence management is maturity assessmentAt the same time, the managers of the enterprise can know their own maturity, be able to have imagination and conceptual power, know which stage of development they are in, and how to cross over to the next more mature stage, therefore, the maturity evaluation method in excellent performance management is a management skill that the managers of the enterprise must master. Of course, its 11 core values are a set of management philosophies that provide entrepreneurs with the underlying logic of management.
3. Outline and check for omissions and fill in gaps
"Performance Excellence Management" can be used to consolidate all management systems, thereby reducing some of the duplication and complexity that comes with many management systems.
Performance excellence management itself is positioned on top of those basic management systems to integrate all management. My personal feeling is that if you can learn excellent performance management clearly, then you will truly understand the specific position and role of that series of basic management systems in enterprise management. The basic management system is standardized and mandatory, and the excellent performance management is personalized and selective, and enterprises can make up for or strengthen a module according to their own development stage and actual needs, so as to continuously improve the maturity of management.
For more than 30 years, the "Performance Excellence Criterion" as a global evaluation framework for the first quality award, has its irreplaceable reason and value, therefore, China has been using the "Performance Excellence Criterion" (or the revised national standard version) as the evaluation framework for the first quality award in the first 20 years. In recent years, some provinces and cities have made some adjustments to the evaluation criteria, but most of the content is still consistent with the "Performance Excellence Guidelines", and the maturity evaluation method is also used. This has led some companies to misunderstand that this is to enforce this management framework within the enterprise.
And the correct logic should be, our countryAll businesses that have survived need to learn the Performance Excellence CodeOn the basis of learning and understanding, we will selectively implement and implement according to our own needs. If you feel that the culture is weak, you should strengthen the cultural construction, if the strategy is weak, you will strengthen the formulation of the strategy, and if the human resource management is weak, you will improve the human resource management. The Performance Excellence Guidelines provide a framework and a path in all aspects. On the basis of making up and strengthening, realize the integration of enterprise management. When the conditions are ripe, we should actively apply for and create the best quality awards at all levelsThrough the third-party review to test their own learning and application, and further promote the learning and growth of all employees of the organization, continuous improvement and innovation, and then achieve the purpose of comprehensively improving the maturity and sustainable development ability of enterprise management.
Personal opinion is for reference only!
Notes: 1. The Performance Excellence Code is applicable to all organizations, and this article only emphasizes enterprises.
2. "Performance Excellence Management" is a term derived from the Performance Excellence Guidelines.
