Xue Yuanming. As a member of the "Eight Monsters of Yangzhou", Yang Fa is among them, but his name is not very well-known. "Eight Monsters" is a collective term. A loud noun has the advantage of being able to remember quickly, but it is also easy to obliterate the differences in their personalities and leave only one "weird" word behind. Looking at the "Eight Monsters of Yangzhou", we have to return to the case itself. It can be seen that "huddling for warmth" is also a mixed bag, at the beginning, you can use the advantages of multiple people to fight a bloody way, but in the end you will face a problem - the light of the excellent in the "combination" will form a "black hole" to obscure others. When it comes to the "Eight Monsters", the first thing that comes to mind is Jin Nong and Zheng Banqiao. Even if these two are not among the "Eight Monsters", they will be famous. But in any case, "Eight Monsters" has become a historical term, and when it comes to "Eight Monsters", it means that they will pay more attention to it, and they are already the lucky and best in art history than other calligraphers and painters who have disappeared into obscurity.
Yang Fa is good at seal calligraphy. Lishu is mainly taken from the law of Jinnong, and the seal script has the largest number in the world, and it can also witness Yang's personal style the most. This is, of course, the result of an individual's desperate desire for change. From the perspective of the external environment, the Qing Dynasty seal calligraphers presented a high-density form, hundreds or thousands, and it was bound to appear that the resources of the method were similar or even the same, and even the style collided. The pressure for change is high, but pressure can also be turned into power. Internally, it is a personal mission to be different and unique, which is the foundation of a calligrapher. The result of the combined effect of external and internal factors is that it must have its own artistic language. Judging from the surviving works of "Eight Monsters", although some of them inevitably influence each other, they still have their own styles, which is commendable.
Judging from this four screens (as shown in the figure), there are three main ** Yang Fa seal books: one is the "Tianfa Oracle Tablet", for a time it may not be easy to find the relevant text records and direct work of Yang Fa to take this tablet, but it is not difficult to find that the semi-encircled and fully encircled structure in the glyph exists in the writing of the inner and outer circles, such as the words "army" and "humility", which is a typical feature of the "Tianfa Oracle Tablet". Moreover, Jin Nong is the method of "Tianfa Oracle Monument", as the leader of the "Eight Monsters", it will directly affect Yang Fa. As mentioned earlier, Yang Fali's calligraphy is basically Jin Nong's penmanship, with slight changes. In this work, the characters with fewer strokes, such as "into, heaven, self, and, long, mountain, up, line, such as", etc., are almost copied from the Jin Nong Lishu, and some of the characters are particularly similar. This is the second ** of Yang Fa's seal book. It is said that it is a seal book, but in fact, it is a mixture of seals and subordinates, but the overall coordination. The third ** is Zheng Banqiao's "willow leaf seal" brushwork, some long strokes, especially the closing of the pen, with the line of cursive brushwork, deliberately seeking movement, increasing the dynamics of the whole work, and the movement is appropriate.

On the whole, it is not difficult to find some traces of deliberate change, such as some long strokes in the glyphs, such as "military, lowly, sexual" and other words, the long lines are usually not written, but drawn, and there is a painter's habit of using the brush. Glyphs with a lot of strokes should be thinner as a whole, and thicker on the contrary, creating a contrasting relationship. If the number of words in the whole work is relatively small, it will often be very exciting, and after the number of words is more, it will inevitably show some stylized habits. In the final analysis, the reason is that there were many calligraphers and painters at that time, who were determined to change in order to have a place for different customs. Deliberately seeking blame is also to meet the needs of buyers' tastes. The well-known "Eight Monsters" are also inevitable. However, in ancient times, the result is often "strange".
Still, it is important to emphasize that the key to the success of a calligrapher is change. Some people don't know it, and they will only bury their heads in hard practice and get twice the result with half the effort. Some people know that they want to change but can't do it, they can't do anything, and they can only regret it for the rest of their lives. Some people are very perceptive, combine knowledge and action, and eventually achieve success. There are two main ways to "seek change", "natural change" and "pretend change". Natural change is a matter of course. Still, there needs to be some kind of opportunity, and the author needs to have a strong sense of change. Without a strong initiative to change, the opportunity will never come, and change will not happen in fact. That is to say, in the process of "natural change", there must be an element of "pretending to change" and the initiative to change. It's like an apple smashed on Newton's head, and there is a reaction, because Newton has been thinking about the problem, and with this psychological preparation, in other words, even if he is knocked unconscious by an apple, he will not discover the law of gravitation. "Pretending to change" means having a strong sense of change and initiative, but if the skill is not enough, the result is also futile. "Wanting to change but not knowing how to change" and "wanting to change but not being able to change" are the two major obstacles to the change of calligraphy. Among the "Eight Monsters", Jinnong is the most successful, and there is a lot of atmosphere. Even Zheng Banqiao's "six-and-a-half-point body" is suspected of "sandwiching raw rice". Yang Fa's seal script was still lacking in skill and talent, so it could not reach the height of Jin Nong, but at that time, it was not easy to have his own personality.
