In 1952, Ren Changjiang took his wife and son to Wuhan, found a small shop, and worked as a salesperson. He thought he was safe and wouldn't be found again. However, he never expected that at this time, Wang Shusheng also came to Wuhan for an inspection.
When Wang Shusheng was patrolling the streets, he suddenly saw a familiar figure at the door of a small shop, and he fixed his eyes on it, it turned out to be Ren Changjiang.
He was shocked in his heart, wondering if he was wrong, he walked into the store, stared at Ren Changjiang, and said directly: Are you Ren Changjiang?
So, is this person the Ren Yangtze River in Wang Shusheng's mouth? What does he have to do with Wang Shusheng?
Ren Changjiang was born into a wealthy merchant family, and his ancestors owned good land and shops, gold, silver and jewelry, and he could sit back and enjoy the life of a master in that turbulent era. However, the living environment in the troubled times made him have to be coerced by the current situation. During the two years when the Japanese army was speeding up the pace of invasion of China and Chiang Kai-shek was encircling and blocking the Communists, Ren Changjiang had the ambition to serve the country and tried every means to join the Communist Party, at first only following General Wang Shusheng as a guard.
Because of his young intelligence, literacy, and patriotic enthusiasm, Ren Changjiang was quickly appreciated by General Wang Shusheng. Especially knowing that he was originally from a wealthy family and came to the army behind his parents' back, Wang Shusheng took more care of him. From the education of life to revolutionary ideas, combat strategies and equipment, he has been taught in all aspects.
In 1945, after Japan withdrew its troops, China finally won the War of Resistance against Japan. After the external threat disappeared, managing the internal affairs of the country became a priority. On October 10 of the same year, the Kuomintang and the Communist Party held talks in Chongqing, and the negotiations between the two sides went smoothly, and they were ready to implement a two-party system in China. But Chiang Kai-shek wanted to monopolize power and not give the Communist Party any power at all.
Soon after, Chiang Kai-shek unilaterally tore up the agreement and waged war against our party. At that time, the Kuomintang was in the mainstream of society, and the legitimacy of the Kuomintang was recognized by the international community. In addition, the Kuomintang has a capitalist system and belongs to the American camp, so most Chinese believe that the Kuomintang will win.
When the two parties began to fight, it was indeed the first to have the advantage, and our party could only be forced to retreat. At this time, Ren Changjiang's heart was also a little shaken. Although he is already a guard next to General Wang Shusheng and is very promising in the eyes of others, his current position is not high. Coupled with the fierce attack, Ren Changjiang felt that he had no future in the ranks of our party, and he was likely to become a prisoner of the Kuomintang.
Becoming a prisoner of the Kuomintang is almost a dead end, and if you fight for it yourself, there may be a glimmer of life.
In 1946, the Kuomintang ** found Ren Changjiang's home in Macheng, and after half a year of lure and coercion, Ren Changjiang finally betrayed the Communist Party and Wang Shusheng.
These ** took the opportunity to transport materials to contact the officers and soldiers of the People's Liberation Army, and one of them found that General Wang Shusheng's guard Ren Changjiang was different. He thought that a weak-willed person like Ren Changjiang could defect with a little inducement, so he began his plan to induce him.
This ** is named Li Ming, and he is a far-sighted figure. He often came into contact with Ren Changjiang when he was delivering supplies, and deliberately exaggerated the strength and advantages of the Kuomintang. He described to Ren Changjiang the strength of the Kuomintang's military strength and the abundance of materials, as well as the superiority of the Kuomintang's treatment. At the same time, he also showed Ren Changjiang some newspapers and magazines, and hinted that if he could submit to the Kuomintang, he would have a brighter future and living conditions.
In addition, Li Ming also gave Ren Changjiang tobacco, alcohol, and food from time to time to let him experience the material life of the Kuomintang, and gave him hardware, such as money and clothing. Under these offensives, Ren Changjiang's originally weak will easily collapsed.
Eventually, Ren Changjiang was sent to the Kuomintang military command as a special agent, responsible for collecting and disseminating CCP military materials. He took advantage of his old relationship with Wang Shusheng to reveal to the Kuomintang many times the movements and military deployment of the PLA.
However, the defeat of the Kuomintang was inevitable, and in 1949 Chiang Kai-shek was defeated and fled to Taiwan. Although Ren Changjiang also wanted to go to Taiwan, it was difficult to find a ticket at that time, and he chose to defect because he believed that the Kuomintang would win, and now that the PLA has won, who can guarantee that he will not defect again? Therefore, the Kuomintang will not take him with them at all.
The desperate Ren Changjiang had no choice but to leave, hide his identity and flee to a pawnshop in Wuhan. Since I was a child, I have been exposed to a lot of gold, silver and jewelry, and I have a strong ability to identify these things. The pawnshop owner saw that he had good eyesight and took him as an apprentice. In order to avoid being discovered, Ren Changjiang usually doesn't go anywhere except for work, and covers himself tightly every time he goes out, so that no one can see his appearance clearly.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the pawnshop was expropriated by the state and turned into a small shop selling daily necessities, and Ren Changjiang became the salesperson of this store. But unexpectedly, he still met Wang Shusheng.
Wang Shusheng found an acquaintance standing at the door of the small shop on the street, took a closer look, and found that it was Ren Changjiang. He was startled, thinking he was dazzled. So he entered the store and asked directly: "You are Ren Changjiang?" ”
Ren Changjiang was frightened, and when he looked up, he saw Wang Shusheng's face like earth, trembling all over, and his lips trembling and unable to speak.
At this time, Ren Changjiang was very frightened in his heart, but he couldn't escape. He quietly retreated to the back of the shelf, hoping that Wang Shusheng would think that he had seen it wrong.
It's a pity that Wang Shusheng recognized him as soon as he walked into the door. At first, I just thought it was strange for this person to wear a hat in the mall, but when I looked at it again, I realized how familiar this back was! Recognize it no matter how you turn to ashes! So Wang Shusheng quickly chased after him, blocked him in front of the other party's retreat, and ruthlessly revealed his identity as at the beginning of the article. In the end, the guards twisted Ren Changjiang to the headquarters, no matter how Ren Changjiang cried, it was useless.
During the court trial, and taking into account the opinions of the leaders of the military region, the traitor Ren Changjiang was sentenced to death. The PLA soldiers who were betrayed and killed by him also rested.
Wang Shusheng's firmness and courage reflect the revolutionary's persistent pursuit of faith and ideals; And Ren Changjiang's weakness and depravity are a tragedy that may occur when personal beliefs are tested and tested in turbulent times.
Betrayal may bring short-term benefits, but it can eventually lead to moral decay and broken personality. Wang Shusheng's anger and grief, as well as Ren Changjiang's fear and remorse, are deep reflections on choices and consequences.
This history is still a cautionary tale. It reminds us that in the face of ** and challenges, we should stick to our inner beliefs and morals, and never forget our original intention. Only in this way can individual dignity and collective honour be preserved, and the verdict of history will be on the side of justice.
