Counselor Sun Jie said in his speech that 2024 is China's Year of the Dragon, and will also be the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary, which is a very important year in the relations between the two countries.
Dr. Shuosh said that many people in Europe may not even realize the artistic potential of Chinese lanterns, and that Chinese artists can create lanterns of almost any shape with their exquisite skills, which is amazing. Many Hungarian cultural elements have also been added to the Chinese Year of the Dragon Lantern Festival, allowing visitors to fully experience the perfect blend of Chinese and Hungarian cultures.

The Sichuan Zigong lanterns participating in the Lantern Festival are China's national intangible cultural heritage, which is famous for its brilliant colors, rich shapes, ingenious ideas and magnificent momentum. In addition to the large-scale lanterns with the theme of "dragons", there are many other works of flora and fauna in the festival such as bamboo, giant pandas, elephants, polar bears, tiger families, squirrels, flamingos, peacocks, etc., echoing the flora and fauna of the Budapest Botanical and Botanical Garden.

It is understood that the "Chinese Year of the Dragon Happy Lantern Festival" will be held from December 16 to February 24, covering both Hungarian Christmas and Chinese New Year. During the Lantern Festival, special activities such as Chinese New Year folk culture display, festival cultural performances and food appreciation will also be arranged. This lantern festival has also become a warm-up prelude to the upcoming series of wonderful people-to-people exchange activities between China and Hungary in 2024.
