Why can't it last?The answer is simple, the contradiction between Israel and Hamas is a life-and-death contradiction that is simply impossible to reconcile. How can a sustainable ceasefire be achieved if Israel wants complete control of the land of Gaza and to achieve complete occupation in order to expand Israel's land area, and Hamas will never agree to Israel's occupation of GazaThe international community's demand for a ceasefire is for Israel to abandon its invasion of Gaza, which is completely contrary to Israel's long-planned intentions, and Netanyahu is unlikely to back down unless it hits a hard nail, at least at this stage.
It is not surprising that the United States vetoed the draft proposal for the pro-fire proposal this time.
There is a question, why does Israel keep mentioning it when the UN Security Council has repeatedly called for a ceasefire, but Israel has not listened to it?
There may be several reasons for this:
1. Put pressure on Israel。The Security Council's resolutions are binding under international law, and although Israel does not implement the Security Council resolutions with the support of the United States, the resolution has the legal status of international law, which means that the United Nations has the legal right to take measures based on the resolution. For example, special means to ensure the implementation of the resolution. Of course, as everyone knows, although the United Nations has no substantive measures at present, its legal effect will make Israel fearful and put pressure on Israel.
2. We must continue to point out the sins of Israel and the United States, and continue to uphold justice。If the UN Security Council no longer mentions the draft ceasefire, it is conniving at Israel, although it is useless to mention it, but history will remember Israel's criminal acts, especially today, with the development of the Internet, Israel's actions have been recorded. The righteous country represented by China should constantly reaffirm its humanitarian stance and rub Israel and the United States on the ground on the moral ground, and that is the goal.
3. Proposals again and again can allow UN member states to see which is right and which is wrong, and form two camps of justice and excellence. Every time you vote, you can see a clear split in camps. So it's all the more important to vote and let everyone choose to take that side. Facts have proven that some countries that were afraid of the United States at the beginning and sided with the side of the American camp later stood on the opposite side of the United States and Israel due to humanitarian pressure or the discovery of conscience. That's the result.
4. It can play a realistic role. At the end of November, Israel agreed to a ceasefire and opened humanitarian corridors. After more than a month of indiscriminate bombardment of Gaza, killing more than 10,000 poor Palestinians, 80 per cent of whom were women and children, Israel finally declared a temporary ceasefire for the first time. On the surface, the temporary ceasefire seems to be related to Hamas's agreement to release the hostages, but that is a symptom, and the most fundamental reason is that Israel is feeling increasing pressure.
This time, the draft proposed by the UAE was vetoed by the United States. But the righteous division will not be discouraged, and as long as Israel does not stop firing, there will be a proposal next time.
