A "flying" mudflow brought Yang Haiying's peaceful life to an abrupt end.
Jishi Mountain 6Category 2** triggered a rare mudslide disaster, a huge amount of mudflow instantly hit 50,000-60,000 square meters of land in Qinghai Province, and the amount of earthwork accumulated was about 1.2 million to 1.5 million square meters. The hardest hit were the citizens of Haidong in Qinghai Province and the villages of Jintian and Caotan in Hui Tu Autonomous County.
Yang Haiying, 28, lives on the main road of the mudflow, which is also one of the deepest places in Jintian Village. The mudflow washed down, burying Yang Haiying's house and family underneath. Rescuers ripped through several meters of mud and found five people buried underneath: three adults surrounded by two children wrapped in quilts. They are Yang Haiying's father, mother, sister who is 6 months pregnant, and his two daughters, one of whom is 4 years old and in kindergarten, and the other is 1 year and 9 months old. My sister came back 3 days ago, and I wanted to raise a baby at my mother's house and accompany my parents by the way.
The mudslide swept away the family.
* It was late at night, and as soon as the villagers realized that something was wrong, they got up and fledWhen the child is asleep, the adult runs away with the childIf you don't have time to run, you will protect the child under you.
* When it happened, Yang Denggao's (Yang Haiying's cousin) wife immediately lay on the child, and he lay on his daughter-in-law, protecting one by one, waiting for ** to pass. Then they ran out into the yard and heard a rumbling sound and a crackling house collapsing. Yang Denggao thought that a bigger ** was coming.
If it's just **, Yang Denggao's yard is safe enough. Most of the villagers' yards are the size of half a basketball court, and they are usually used to pile up some food. At that time, he also thought that the family would be safe. However, within two minutes, the muddy water had washed down the courtyard wall, and it was then that he realized that the rumbling sound was that the mud was rushing. It was too dark for him to see how high the mudflow was, so he ran out with his 10-year-old daughter in his arms.
The mud washed down by the mudslide covers the eastern end of the village, and at the edge of the mud is a cemetery, which is slightly higher. After Yang Denggao ran out, he saw other people in the village waiting for rescue. He put his little daughter down, asked the neighbors to watch over him, and went back to his wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother. Not far from the front of his house, he shouted many times, but no one answered. At that time, the mud in the yard was already 3 meters deep, and the deepest place was more than 4 meters, and 4 rooms were buried in it.
The villagers took stock and found that more than 10 people in the village were missing.
Yang Denggao's third uncle hurriedly called the police and sought rescue.

Rescue a survivor.
At 2:20 on December 19, just over two hours after the incident, Meng Chang, deputy head of the Chuanyuan North Road Fire and Rescue Station of the Haidong Fire and Rescue Detachment of Qinghai Province, and his party of 18 firefighters rushed to Jintian Village. This was the first professional rescue team to reach the village after the earthquake.
Meng Chang saw that after the mudslide, the average thickness of the mud was 3 meters, and in some places it reached 5 meters, and the roads and many houses were destroyed, and they needed to move rescue equipment into it with their bare hands.
After questioning the villagers, they quickly pinpointed the location of a trapped elderly man, about 50 meters away from where they were. The mud is very deep and sticky, and if you step on it, you will sink into it.
Rescuers cannot directly reach the place where the elderly are, and must first build a rescue channel. Together with the local villagers, they found more than 40 wooden planks, and Meng Chang and the team members took a relay method, finishing one by one, and then laying one piece in front of the house, and then laying it in front of the old man's house one by one. Meng Chang kept shouting: "Is there anyone, we are fire and rescue personnel, we are here to save you." ”
About the fourth time he shouted, the old man trembled and made a faint voice: "I'm here, come and save me." This made several rescuers both excited and nervous.
The house where the trapped elderly man was located had partially collapsed, and the aftershocks were continuous, and the house could collapse again at any time, and the rescuers were also in danger of life. But they went in anyway, because they heard the old man's faint and stammering voice, and they judged, "We can't wait any longer." ”
The mud "covered" the second floor of the house, and only one-third of the windows on the second floor were still exposed, and the working surface was very narrow and could not be rescued directly. The two team members half-squatted down to act as a "human flesh cushion", Meng Chang stepped on it, kicked open the window, and saw the old man cowering in the corner of the second floor at a glance, and the plastic lighting board on the top of the house had collapsed in half, pressing on the old man. Meng Chang rushed over to clean up the debris on the old man's body, and comforted the old man: "Grandpa, are you okay, let's come and save you!."”
At that time, the old man's hands and feet were cold, and his body was almost frozen. Meng Chang pulled out the futon from the side, draped it on him, and helped him warm his hands and feet, and then carefully lifted him out of the window, "Don't be afraid, I'll carry you out, everything will be fine." ”
The working surface was too narrow, and as soon as the old man was lifted out, Meng Chang stepped into the mud, and the mud soon reached his knees, and his legs couldn't be pulled out. The two rescuers in the back have been helping to pull it out, but they can't pull it out, "it's too deep"!The team member comforted Meng Chang in the back: "Captain, don't worry, we are behind you and will definitely pull you out." ”
Usually Meng Chang comforts these team members, but now it is they who comfort themselves in turn, which makes Meng Chang particularly moved. Meng Chang looked at the old man while pulling his legs hard. Unable to pull it out, he simply pulled his foot out of his shoe, walked barefoot on the mud, and sent the old man to an ambulance 300 meters away with his teammates. In the middle, he passed a forest, and the ground was full of branches, and Meng Chang's foot was punctured.
At 3:30 a.m. on the 19th, the old man was put into an ambulance, and later learned that the surviving old man's name was Yang Shanlin.
A villager saw that Meng Chang was not wearing shoes, so he went to find shoes for him to wear, there were no plus-size men's shoes at home, only a pair of size 41 women's shoes, Meng Chang finally did not have to walk barefoot.
Dredging and draining water at the same time.
Several rescue teams entered the village one after another. According to the information provided by the family, the rescuers determined the approximate area of the missing person in combination with the life detector and the operation of the search and rescue dog. Rescuers at the scene said their search range was about 120,000 square meters, divided into 5 rescue areas.
Among them, the No. 2 rescue area has the largest number of missing contacts, and the silt is also the deepest, which is near Yang Haiying's house.
At about two o'clock in the afternoon of December 19, more than 30 people dispatched by Pingxing Construction Group entered the village with two excavators and three loaders.
Yuan Yinlong, born in the 90s, was the first excavator to rush into the No. 2 area. At that time, a villager who knew the approximate location of the missing person stood on the excavator and instructed him to drive forward. There is only one thing in his mind: rush, saving people is important.
The excavator is digging up the silt here, and the water is constantly flowing out there. Lao He, a villager in Jintian Village, told a reporter from China Youth Daily and China Youth Network that the main crops in the local area are corn and wheat, and in order to ensure the moisture and temperature of the soil, the villagers will carry out winter irrigation in winter. **Before the occurrence, shortly after the completion of winter irrigation, "wheat is not winter irrigated, and the yield is halved".
However, some villagers said that there was other water in the mud besides the water brought by the mudslide itself and the water from winter irrigation. Mr. Zhang, a villager in Jintian Village, said that there is a north trunk canal at the back of the village, which is used for flood control in summer, and ordinary people usually use the water from this canal to cultivate their land. "As soon as it happens, the water may come down. Two parts of his house are around the canal, "and they are probably all buried."
Yuan Yinlong and they dug until two o'clock in the morning on December 20, but the silt was too thick, and the two-story building was only 15 meters exposed. Although the outermost layer of the silt is frozen, the inner layer is dripping as soon as it is dug, and the excavator is digging and the silt is pouring back, and so on. Some excavators were stuck in it and couldn't move. Overnight, the excavator was surrounded by silt and "frozen".
Tens of thousands of square meters of silt under the difficulty, can be imagined. At most, there are dozens of large construction machinery operating at the same time on site. While looking for someone, the excavator dug out a passage and did not stop for 24 hours. After the passage was opened, Yuan Yinlong could continue his operation.

Pepper noodles".
Yang Denggao's family was first searched and rescued.
On the afternoon of December 20, Huang Qi, an excavator operator of China Aneng, found a person in the silt, and in the past few days, he found a total of two people. Before that, other rescuers "dug up" two people in the area.
At about 10 o'clock on the 20th, Huang Qi drove an excavator into the No. 4 rescue area. After digging for about 6 hours, they reached the place where the house had collapsed. Then seeing clothes, quilts, basins, etc., he judged: "There may be people in this place." ”
Rescuing in the mud is a test of the excavator operator's skills, eyesight and patience. Unlike other ** digging on the ruins after the rubble, layer by layer of rubble, the missing person will always be found, but the mudflow is too fluid, and it is more difficult to find people.
In order to accurately search and rescue the missing people, the excavator operator drove a 30-ton large equipment to carry out "pepper noodles" type excavation, dig up a shovel of soil, repeatedly shake the excavator arm, and scatter the soil from the bucket little by little, for fear of missing any traces of the missing person.
Little by little, a few meters of thick mud was peeled away, and the first thing that was revealed was the white hair of a grandmother. The excavator stopped, and the firefighters jumped down to confirm: "There are indeed people". At the top is the silt, and at the bottom is the fragments of the house that have fallen.
According to clues provided by the villagers, an elderly couple was buried near the house. Huang Qi is worried that the two old men are together, and once they dig inaccurately, there is a risk of causing secondary injury. Therefore, he dug both sides first and demarcated the rescue range, which made him feel confident. Then, continue to use the excavator to cut the silt from top to bottom, about 5 centimeters thick each time. When the machine could not enter, rescuers used hand planing to remove the mud and rubble layer by layer.
In the past few days, it has become the norm for rescuers to "plan" with their hands, and many rescuers' fingernails have been split, and the mud inside the fingernails has been washed, and they are soon filled again.
At about 19:40 on December 20, the grandmother was rescued.
The sheep got up from the mud.
After that, 5 sheep were rescued, 4 of them still alive.
In the silt, white is particularly conspicuous. When the sheep is found, it also sends a "white signal" first. On the morning of December 21, Huang Qi tentatively and gently picked up the silt, and saw a white thing, like a sheep's ears exposed, he fixed his eyes and saw that the sheep was lying flat in the silt and still moving, Huang Qi was also startled, and the firefighter soldier standing next to him jumped off the excavator to confirm: "The sheep is alive." ”
Huang Qi has a hunch: he can dig things up now. For a skilled excavator operator, digging down a bucket, the bottom is not real, and it can be perceived through the control lever. Digging into the place where the sheep were dug, Huang Qi felt that there was a gap underneath, and the building had not completely collapsed.
Huang Qi saw that the foundation of the sheepfold was much higher than the house next to it. At the same time, there are 3 large trees next to the sheepfold, the thickest of which has a diameter of 50 cm, which can play a good role in preventing erosion. The grain and grass prepared by the family for the sheep are particularly sufficient, all piled up in the sheepfold, and most of the silt flows away from both sides of the grain and grass, and the thickness of the silt on the grain and grass is only ten or twenty centimeters, and the pressure is not so solid, oxygen can enter, and there is hope for life. When the rescue team cleared the mud and buildings that had been crushing on the sheep, "the first sheep stood up."
The second lamb was able to stand up on its front legs, but its hind legs were smashed and could not stand. One of the other 3 sheep had no vital signs.
After digging up the live sheep, Huang Qi became more nervous and cautious, he was worried that there might be people in the sheepfold. So, he operated the excavator to pick up the wood of the sheepfold one by one, for fear of cutting which wood would be cut.
At 8:36 a.m. that day, more than 10 minutes after finding the sheep, they found hair under the courtyard wall, and found another elderly man 20 meters vertically from the grandmother they found earlier. According to relatives, this grandmother's legs and feet are not good, and grandpa's legs and feet are okay. Rescuers speculated that the grandfather had fled to the door at that time.
Huang Qi's excavator drove into the No. 4 rescue area for 26 hours, and all the missing people in his area were found. Subsequently, he went to the No. 5 rescue area to continue to save people.
Look for people at the intersection of the word "people".
In the past few days, Yang Haiying couldn't stay in the tent at all, and basically stayed at the rescue site.
Before the disaster, he, like other young people in the village, got married, had children, and worked with his wife in other places. The house buried under the mudslide was the savings of two generations. In order to build a house and get married, they borrowed more than 200,000 yuan from the bank, relatives and friends. "Now, people and homes are gone. ”
* He and his wife were in Xining, and the earthquake was also felt in Xining. He hurriedly called the family **, 3 adults, none of them could get through. They put on their clothes and rushed home, a journey of more than 170 kilometers from Xining to Jintian Village, and the car drove very fast, arriving at the village at about 2:40 on December 19. At that time, his wife couldn't stop crying, and Yang Haiying settled her in a friend's car, planning to go home and see it herself.
Yang Haiying was going to walk home from the road in the village, but the road had been buried by more than two meters of silt. He walked alone along the edge of the mud, trying to find an opening to get in. I've been looking forward to it if I can be rescued. But he searched halfway around the village, but he couldn't find a single opening to enter.
A friend drove him around the village next door, Caotan Village, which was also severely affected. Standing on the roof of a house in Caotan Village, he saw a patch of silt, and he determined through the big tree in front of his house that was still exposed: "The house is completely flat."
The vicinity of Yang Haiying's home has been identified as Area 2, and 9 missing people are expected in this area, including 5 in Position 1, which are Yang Haiying's familyThere are expected to be 4 in the No. 2 position.
Meng Xiaogang, director of the Political Department of the Haibei Prefecture Fire and Rescue Detachment, and his team members were responsible for the rescue of the No. 1 position in Area 2, where Yang Haiying's family of five was trapped.
At about 8 o'clock in the morning on December 20, after receiving the task, the Haibei Prefecture Fire and Rescue Detachment began to dig into a house southeast of the mission site, which was located on the edge of the silt accumulation, and there was a vacant lot next to it where the excavated silt could be stacked. Later, it was found that the location of the trapped people was more than 30 meters away from here. Han Xueliang, head of the fire rescue station on East Square Road in Qilian County, Haibei Prefecture Fire Detachment, said that this was consistent with their initial judgment, "that is the shortest and most convenient path".
The silt is connected into patches. Meng Xiaogang said that the rescuers barely closed their eyes, and they couldn't hold on, so they squinted on the roof exposed in the mud for a while. Fighting continuously at more than ten degrees below zero, no one flinched.
In order to make sure that the direction of the excavation is correct, every once in a while, Meng Xiaogang will communicate with the masses who understand the situation.
At about 2 o'clock in the afternoon of December 21, at the No. 1 position in the No. 2 area, the Haibei Prefecture Fire and Rescue Detachment and the Xining Detachment dug from the southwest converged.
Adults surrounded the two children in a circle.
Subsequently, the rescuers began to launch an "attack" on the small building, and the first thing to dig out was the kitchen. Previously, the family had told Meng Xiaogang that the first room in the house was the kitchen, followed by the bedroom, and people could be nearby.
When he was about to dig to the door of the house, Yang Haiying ran back to the tent and asked a friend to watch over there, he didn't dare to see his family being dug up.
Worried that the excavator would touch people, Meng Xiaogang asked the excavator master to adjust the direction of the excavation, and after digging three or four times, two or three meters in front of the right side of the excavator, a white object was exposed.
Wang Xiaojun, head of the Yintan Road Special Service Station of the Haibei Prefecture Fire and Rescue Detachment, has been standing on the excavator, observing whether there are signs of people in front of him at any time. After seeing this, he quickly stopped the excavator. Wang Xiaojun and two colleagues jumped into the mud together, and Meng Xiaogang, who was standing in the kitchen and commanding, was only more than one meter away from the target, and also jumped in with several people around him. When he was about to reach the white object, one of Wang Xiaojun's feet sank in, and the mud reached his kneeTwo other firefighters, trapped in front of him, formed a triangle. Subsequently, more and more people came, and they were "pulled out".
Make sure there's someone over there. Wang Xiaojun said that after approaching, they used their hands to gouge a few times to confirm that it was a person's knees that were bare and V-shaped, and that the calves and thighs were still buried in the mud.
The rescue team continued to use a combination of man-machine methods to dig people, with excavators being responsible for expanding the working area, and most of the time firefighters planing by hand. Since the mud was easy to sink into, and it was impossible to walk, the rescuers built a rescue platform with wooden planks around it. When approaching the trapped people, the rescuers slowly shoveled with shovels, and when they reached the innermost layer, the firefighters used their hands to dig from top to bottom little by little. The youngest children were the first to be rescued, followed by the older children. Then came the adults, who formed a circle and protected the children.
It took more than 3 hours from the discovery of the trapped people to the excavation of all 5 people. Han Xueliang said that in order to prevent the trapped people from being injured twice, special care should be taken at every step.
At the site, a lot of hands are planing, sometimes these hands are lined up horizontally, digging horizontally;Sometimes, the excavation process is carried out vertically like a stack of arhats. In Han Xueliang's view, "this is equivalent to 'dialing' out layer by layer."
After evening, the temperature in Kaneda Village drops below freezing. But in the mud, the people who tried their best to rescue were busy sweating. For Wang Xiaojun, it was a highly stressful physical job, they faced both physical and psychological pressure, and after the rescue, he found that his back was completely wet.

Nine-fold screening and the first mudflow rescue.
On the afternoon of December 21, the passage near the excavator driven by Yuan Yinlong was opened.
Excavation! With the shout of Ya Likun, the leader of the second squadron of the Qinghai Mobile Team of the National Fire and Rescue Bureau, Yuan Yinlong operated the excavator and began to work. A few minutes later, a victim was found, and Yuan Yinlong felt very uncomfortable.
Alekun and other rescuers began paving the way. The ditch in the middle of the silt was still dripping, and people were stuck in it, and the mud was up to their knees.
Xu Dengwen, assistant of the fire fighting and rescue team of the Qinghai Mobile Team Preparatory Group of the National Fire and Rescue Administration, has been guarding the search and rescue scene. He said: "Where the excavator can't reach, we use shovels or just plank with our bare hands, and we must search and rescue the rest of the people." ”
Subsequently, they found the body of an elderly man.
On December 21, the bodies of several victims were found by rescue workers, and a moment of silence was held at the scene.
Late at night on December 24, Wei Liangyuan, a post-95 excavator operator of the Changzhou Branch of the Second Engineering Bureau of China Aneng Group, "dug up" the body of a victim near a telephone pole in front of a factory.
Wei Liangyuan, who has many years of rescue experience, also experienced a mudslide for the first time. He said that large equipment such as excavators is relatively heavy, and the wheels can easily sink into the silt, not to mention that the silt is mixed with water, which further increases the difficulty of rescue. In the past, most of the excavation surfaces had a hard foundation, and "you can let go of your hands and feet". This time it was difficult to walk on the silt, and with one step at a time, the excavator slowed down and became lighter. It is also necessary to always check for signs of trapped people, "the spirit has been tense".
Wei Liangyuan introduced that the straight-line distance from the No. 3 rescue area to the No. 5 rescue area is about 200 meters, and there are 9 large excavators arranged in the middle. At the same time, each excavator is equipped with both an observer and a safety officer, and three pairs of eyes are always staring at the excavation area.
The silt is receding.
In the past few days, Yang Haiying and his wife have lived in a tent next to the cemetery in Jintian Village, busy taking care of their family's funeral.
It's a little better when she's busy, as long as it's a person, Yang Haiying will think of her parents, and think of her two daughters shouting at her parents in **.
* Before his arrival, the income of this small family depended mainly on him and his wife working in Xining. More than two months ago, my parents just took out a loan, repaired the pigsty, raised a few sheep, chickens, pigs, etc., and their lives were not rich, but they were also happy.
* In the first two hours, Yang Haiying also talked to the two children**, and the eldest daughter sang him the song he learned in kindergarten that day, and also danced the newly learned dance. Usually, they call the family almost every day when they are particularly busy, they call once every two days.
Now he knows that people are "gone", and they are really "gone". "I don't know what exactly I'm going to do and what I need," he saidIt felt like the sky was falling. I don't know the way forward, how to go with my daughter-in-law. ”
Several family members are gone, and Yang Denggao still can't believe it. But he can't help but cheer up, his two daughters and the old father who has been taking medicine all year round still need him to take care of them. When the reporter asked what difficulties there were at home, Yang Denggao said: "Now the first person is in charge, but the difficulties are not there for the time being." ”
On December 26, the rescued daughter of Yang Shanlin told a reporter from China Youth Daily that the old man had been taken back to the village and lived in a resettlement tent with his family. Yang Shanlin has 3 sons, and the family of four and a family of five who disappeared in ** are Yang Shanlin's eldest son and second son, respectively, and Yang Denggao and Yang Haiying are his two grandsons.
Children are the first to recover, and the effects of mudslides are fading away. What they are most concerned about now is that the swing that they can usually play with has pulled a cordon outside and cannot be played.
In these days, many children have come to regard the rescuers as good friends. On December 25, before school resumed in the township, a 6-year-old girl walked in the village with a schoolbag on her back and told the rescuers about the scene: at that time, she was sleeping, and her family ran away with her. She asked the rescuers, "What does Beijing look like?"She said that when she grows up, she wants to go to Beijing as a tour guide to see the bigger world and meet more people.
The silt in Kaneda Village is gradually decreasing. Rescuers continued to clear the dredging and search for people, and trucks loaded with mud drove out of Jintian Village, dusty in the sun. Villagers who were less affected by the disaster have returned to their homes to clean up their homesThe hardest-hit villagers have moved to newly installed prefabricated houses, where they will spend the winter.
On December 25, a 70-year-old man stood at the entrance of the village and watched his two-story building reveal little by little. She said, **, she didn't even bring out a pair of socks, and the house was stocked with their food for the winter. She was waiting, the silt receded, and she survived the winter, the farmland exposed, and the next spring, the seeds were sown.
The next day, the village resumed school, and the children began to attend classes.
