However, although it was released in August 2019, it was not until June 2021 that Huawei launched HarmonyOS 20 version, it is really used in the mobile phone system, so far, Huawei Hongmeng system, can be regarded as really developing and growing.
Later, Huawei put forward a goal, that is, the HarmonyOS system must first reach 16% of the market share, because according to statistics, all operating systems in the world must reach 16% to survive.
Because of the urgency of the operating system, the competition is actually for the ecology, whether it is the Wintel system, or the Apple system, or the Android system, if it can survive, it will inevitably exceed 16% of the share.
Only by crossing the life and death line of more than 16% can we attract many machine manufacturers, software vendors, application service providers and users to join, and finally create a set of ecology.
However, despite the rapid development of the HarmonyOS system, the 16% market share has not been realized, because after Huawei's mobile phones were suppressed, Honor was sold, and then Huawei's mobile phone shipments also fell sharply, and it was impossible to maintain a 16% market share.
The data shows that by the second quarter of 2023, Hongmeng's share in the domestic market is only 8%, and the global market is only about 2%, which is still a long way from 16%.
But the turning point was in the third quarter, with the launch of Huawei Mate60 series mobile phones, Huawei mobile phones completely turned over, and the market share continued to grow.
By November, Huawei's share of mobile phones exceeded 14%, which means that the share of the HarmonyOS system also exceeded 14%, only two percentage points away from 16%.
Recently, some data show that the share of Huawei mobile phones has exceeded 16%, and with the release of the nova12 series, Huawei mobile phones are not only high-end mate60 series, but also cover the mid-range camp, it is foreseeable that the share of Huawei mobile phones will be more in the future.
At the same time, with the return of Kirin chips and 5G, in 2024, the share of Huawei mobile phones will rise, and all Huawei's new mobile phones use the Hongmeng system, so the share of Hongmeng will be higher and higher.
In fact, not only does the market share exceed 16%, but recently, more than 400 application manufacturers have expressed their stance to join the HarmonyOS camp and develop HarmonyOS special apps.
