Kim Sung-si, a unique literary critic, is known for his deep insight and unique insights into Water Margin.
Under his pen, Shi Nai'an's "Water Margin" seems to have a second author, but it is very different from the original work. Surprisingly, Jin Shengxian cut the original 100-time "Water Margin" to only 70 chapters, which became a strange chapter in the history of literature.
The starting point of the story lies in the misfortune of Li Kui's mother. Ordinary people shed tears of grief for such a tragic scene, but Jin Shengxi used the pen as a sword and wrote 12 couplets.
As a hero of Liangshan, why is Li Kui so excited and writes so many couplets in one go?
Let's dive in**.
At the beginning, Li Kui went to Liangshan by chance, fought bravely and well, and lived an endless happy life. However, as time passed, he began to miss his old mother, who was far away from home.
Song Jiang told the heroes that he would go home to pick up his father up the mountain, and Li Kui was immediately grief-stricken when he heard the news. Asking the reason, Li Kui wiped away his tears and said: "Some time ago, Gongsun Sheng went home to visit his mother, and now you are also going to pick up your father up the mountain, and I remember that my mother in the old age of the family has no one to take care of her."
It turned out that Li Kui was a dutiful son who longed to take his mother to Liangshan to enjoy the joy of family with him. To this end, he hurried home and prepared to pick up his mother up the mountain.
After more than half a month of traveling, he returned to his hometown. However, tragedy occurred one day, when my mother was attacked by a tiger in the mountains in Yiling and devoured tragically. Li Kui witnessed his mother's tragic condition, his heart was like a knife, and with deep grief and guilt, he resolutely picked up the machete and cut the vicious tiger into two pieces.
However, when he returned to the entrance of the cave, his mother was long gone, leaving only a bloody garment.
This scene is heart-wrenching. The tragedy of Li Kui's mother has become an indelible pain in his heart.
When he returned to Liangshan, when everyone asked where his mother was, he replied: "Brother, when I was crossing the mountain, my mother was unfortunately swept away by a tiger and killed by a tiger. However, Song Jiang did not express a trace of sympathy, but laughed.
This made Jin Shengxi angry, and his pen presented 12 couplets to express his hatred for Song Jiang's various actions.
Jin Shengsi's couplets have a deep artistic conception, and through these 12 couplets, his dissatisfaction with Song Jiang is overflowing.
Jin Sheng sighed at Song Jiang's way of dealing with the world, he portrayed the image of a hypocrite, a villain who talks about people when he sees people, and talks nonsense when he sees ghosts.
This hypocrisy disgusted Jin Shengsi. In his opinion, Li Kui is a real filial son, while Song Jiang is a hypocritical politician who will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals.
is different from the original "Water Margin", Jin Shengsi's version pays more attention to the in-depth portrayal of the characters' personalities.
Through Li Kui's story, he showed Song Jiang's hypocrisy and his nature of seeing the wind and steering the rudder. These couplets have been handed down to this day, conveying Jin Shengsi's unique insights into the story of the Water Margin, and have also become a precious document for future generations to interpret this literary history.
