3 InstructionsThe BQ2404X family of devices is a highly integrated Li-Ion and Li-Polymer linear charger device for space-constrained, portable applications. The device is powered by a USB port or an AC adapter. The high input voltage range and input overvoltage protection enable low-cost, unregulated adapters. The BQ2404X has a single-supply output to charge the battery. If the average system load does not allow the battery to be fully charged during the 10-hour safety timer period, the system load can be paralleled with the battery. Battery charging goes through three stages: regulation, constant current, and constant voltage. During all charging phases, the internal control loop monitors the IC junction temperature, which reduces the charging current when it exceeds the internal temperature threshold. The charger power stage and charge current sensing are fully integrated. The charger features high-precision current and voltage regulation loops, charge status display, and charge termination functions. The pre-charge current and termination current thresholds are programmed with external resistors on the BQ24040 and BQ24045. The fast-charge current value can also be programmed with an external resistor.
