3 InstructionsThe DRV89xx-Q1 is a pin-to-pin compatible family of integrated multichannel half-bridge drivers with 4 to 12 half-bridges. This device family features a low on-state resistance (RDS(ON)) for improved thermal performance during high-current operation.
These devices are capable of driving brush DC (BDC) motors or stepper motors in standalone, sequential, or parallel modes. The half-bridge is fully controllable to enable forward rotation, reverse rotation, coasting and braking operation of the motor. These devices feature a standard 16-bit 5MHz serial peripheral interface (SPI) with daisy-chaining for complete configuration and detailed diagnostics. Depending on the device, four or eight programmable PWM generators are integrated to limit current during motor operation or LED dimming control. The device includes a number of protection and diagnostic features, including an NFAULT pin that alerts the system in the event of a fault. The device has a low-current open-load detection (OLD) mode for detecting an open-load condition when the nominal load current is low and a passive OLD mode for off-line OLD. The device also provides full protection against short-circuit, undervoltage, and overtemperature conditions.
