As we all knowCourageous peopleHe is a descendant of General Li Dingguo's subordinates who followed Emperor Yongli to resist the Qing Dynasty and entered Burma that year. In 1662, Yongli Emperor Zhu Youlang was presented to Wu Sangui by the Burmese king Mang Bai and hanged in Kunming. In the eighth year of Yongzheng, that is, in 1730, Yang You, a descendant of Yang Gaoxue, a subordinate of King Gui, exercised his authority in the Kokang region in the name of "Doctor Fengzheng". Before Emperor Yongli's subordinates were called Kokang people, they were called in the history booksGui family

The origin of the name of the Gui family

According to Zhao Yi's "A Brief Description of Pacification of Burma", it is recorded: "The noble family, the official family who entered Myanmar with Yongming, and their descendants fell into Burma, and they signed themselves as the Gui family. "Yongli Emperor Zhu Youlang was originally named King Yongming, and in the first year of Longwu (1645), he was crowned King Gui, and the following year he was appointed as a supervisor in Zhaoqing, Guangdong, and established the Yongli regime. The reason why it is called the Gui family is that it uses the name of Zhu Youlang Guiwang.

In the cold winter of early 1659, the Yongli Emperor fled to Tengyue in a hurry, followed by a 4,000-strong bureaucratic contingent and court ladies. They traveled a long distance and endured many hardships before finally arriving at Manmo (present-day Bhammo, Burma). However, at this time, there were only more than 1,450 people left in their ranks. Yongli sent people to beg the Burmese king to allow them to take refuge in the city of Ava, Kyoto, Burma.

Although the Burmese king agreed, he sent only four small wooden boats to meet the weary group of refugees. These four ships have a limited carrying capacity and can only carry the safety of the palace dependents. The ministers and guards in high positions had to find ways to hire ships to accompany them, while the more than 900 subjects with horses chose to travel overland in the hope of meeting the Yongli Emperor in Ava.

In the end, only 646 people arrived in Ava. The more than 2,000 subjects who could not follow Yongli to the south had no choice but to live on the Yunnan-Burma border and became the ancestors of the first Gui family. The History of the Ming Dynasty and the Legend of the Kings records that those subjects who chose to travel by land were plundered by the Burmese and forced into slavery. Many people have lost the courage to live in this ordeal and have chosen to end themselves. Only more than 80 people led by King Min were lucky enough to escape into Siam (Thailand). These people became the ancestors of the Gui family on the Thai-Myanmar border.

In this strange land, the remnants of Yongli have stubbornly taken root. They lived and multiplied in Menggen, Baigu, Gura, and other places.

Luo Xinghan, the legend of the Land of Courage, is known as"The Opium King"。According to his family tree, Luo's ancestor was the deputy general of General Li Dingguo, and after the Yongli Emperor encountered difficulties, he led his subordinates to infiltrate Mali Dam and migrate around in order to protect himself. From this ancestor to the present, the Luo family has been passed down for 12 generations.
