After the results of the draw for the European Championships, Italian Turkish coach Montella spoke to Sky Sports about his feelings as Turkey coach and his feelings for his home country Italy.
I'm glad that this is a more dynamic job than I ever imagined, and it allows me to compete more from the perspective of a Xi. As a coach, you're Xi to seeing what you fall short of your opponents. I'm in a very healthy environment at the moment, it's been an enriching experience, it's a good fit for me and I'm happy with my new job. It's hard to comment because now I'm on a different angle. But I don't think Spain and Croatia want to go to Italy either. From the games I've watched recently, I realise that Italy is extraordinary right now. Remember the spirit of the Italian team when they won the World Cup?They are always a dangerous national team. I genuinely represent a country and that goes beyond football. I feel 100 per cent responsible, I've always dreamed of being able to play in the final and play against my friends and coaches, because then even if you lose, it's not so painful, and I'm sure it's the same for Italy.
