MOOV has released new device management software (EMS) for semiconductor manufacturers.

moov's device management software helps manufacturers track and understand what equipment assets they own in the fab, the condition of these tools, and the resale value of these assets based on moov's global market data.

Today, semiconductor manufacturers have limited knowledge of the equipment they own in the fab, its condition, and how to maximize its value after the equipment is treated as depreciated and/or beyond its initial line life.

As EMS is being built, MOOV will continue to help manufacturers implement a more data-driven approach to deciding how to leverage idle or underutilized capital equipment, i.e., maximize the lifetime value of those assets, whether it's moving equipment between plants, end-of-life equipment, parts, or entire systems.

"Semiconductor manufacturers have neither the tools nor the data to make informed decisions about what to do with capital equipment assets that may depreciate on the books but still have real market value," said Steven Zhou, co-founder and CEO of Moov. moov's device management software helps manufacturers gain a unified view of equipment across fabs and augment equipment data with market data extracted from millions of data points such as pricing, demand, geography, installed base, and more to help chipmakers make strategic decisions about how to maximize the value of these financial assets based on real market conditions. ”

To help manufacturers streamline the process of deploying EMS across fabs, MOOV offers free device audits and data loading. MOOV will audit and inspect the equipment of the manufacturer's fab and document the device manufacturer, model, location, condition and specifications in the EMS. Once the manufacturer's assets are tracked in the EMS, the system will automatically pull pricing and demand data from the MOOV global used semiconductor manufacturing equipment market. Manufacturers can then decide what to do with underutilized equipment and parts with a holistic view of their assets, which are indexed and easily searchable across locations. If a manufacturer decides on an asset, they can easily do it with 2 clicks through a direct integration with moov's global resale marketplace.

"We are eliminating all the legwork of implementing a system that tracks the entire system of semiconductor manufacturing equipment across the fab in order to enable manufacturers to reduce wasted time and redundant work, respond more quickly to changing needs across fabs, and maximize the value of assets that manufacturers may have been considered obsolete until now but have significant market value," said Steven Zhou.

Historically, chipmakers have believed that how to deal with depreciated equipment is a matter of later because the process of reselling equipment is cumbersome and fragmented, and the resale value of equipment is low. However, pandemic-era equipment delays and shortages, rising demand for 200mm capacity, and changing purchasing habits by manufacturers to diversify the capital equipment chain** have led to a surge in the resale value of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. At the same time, there is growing market pressure to improve the financial and environmental sustainability of fabs, so a better way is needed to maximize the value of these six-figure and higher-figure assets over their lifetime.

"With access to the world's largest dataset of resale value for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, we see a responsibility to develop technology to help manufacturers better incorporate this data into their day-to-day decision-making processes," Steven Zhou said.
