On December 30, 2023, the opening ceremony and award ceremony of the 2023 Crane Lake International Poster Festival Exhibition was officially opened in the new residence of Crane Lake in Longgang, Shenzhen, and an academic seminar was held in the CC Creative District of Longgang District on the same day.
The 2023 Crane Lake International Poster Festival is based on the revitalization of Longgang's traditional culture and Hakka heritage, and communicates through the poster festival to create an international visual poster event with depth and breadth in the form of competitions, exhibitions, promotions and forums.
The event was guided by the Propaganda Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the China International Design Museum, hosted by the People's Government of Longgang District, Shenzhen, and the Shenzhen Innovation and Creative Design Development Office, and undertaken by the Propaganda Department of the Longgang District Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Longgang District, Shenzhen, and the Hehu Think Tank.
As an international poster competition, the Crane Lake International Poster Festival solicits works from designers, design groups and design institutions around the world with high standards and professionalism, and has also received strong support from academic institutions and various enterprises at home and abroad. Since its launch on June 2, 2023, the organizing committee has sent invitations to major universities and design groups at home and abroad, and after 5 months of urban promotion, it has received a strong response. A total of 5,307 posters were submitted from 13 countries and regions, as well as more than 110 universities and design organizations. Following the theme of "Design Reshapes the Future", 241 finalists were selected by the preliminary jury, with a shortlisting rate of 45%。After the final jury, 4 Gold Awards, 13 Silver Awards, 25 Bronze Awards, and 63 Merit Awards were finally selected by the final jury. At the same time, the eight judges of the final jury also selected their most recognized works and awarded the judges the [Jury Award].
Jin Daiqiang, an international graphic design master and a member of the International Graphic Design Alliance AGI, said that the Crane Lake International Poster Festival in such a 300-year-old Hakka walled house, in the name of design, will combine the architecture with traditional regional cultural characteristics and the international poster visual art with contemporary attributes, promote the inheritance and innovation of traditional culture with the power of design, start the city's popularity and reputation, and become a truly representative international poster festival that has attracted much attention, and achieve the ideal of "design reshaping the future".
Hang Jian, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the Crane Lake International Poster Festival and Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee of the China Academy of Art, said that there was the famous "Goose Lake Meeting" in history, and today we are the "Crane Lake Meeting". With the help of such an important event as the Crane Lake International Poster Festival, the cultural and creative industry of Shenzhen and the construction of the "City of Design" have been transformed and expanded, pushing Shenzhen's cultural and creative industries and the construction of the "City of Design" to a new height. The Crane Lake International Poster Festival has become a city card of Longgang, Shenzhen, enabling more, more active and more effective exchanges between domestic and foreign designers, so as to convey an amiable, lovely and respectable image of China to the world. It is believed that the Crane Lake International Poster Festival will be based in Longgang, out of Shenzhen, facing the whole country, and leaping to a larger world.
It is reported that the exhibition of the 2023 Crane Lake International Poster Festival will be exhibited in the new residence of Crane Lake from December 30, 2023 to February 24, 2024.
