On January 1, the reporter learned from the West Kowloon Border Inspection Station that in 2023, a total of more than 19.88 million people will be inspected and left into and out of the country, an increase of more than 15% over 2019, of which the extreme value of single-day passenger flow appeared on December 23, and the number of passengers inspected on that day exceeded 1250,000 passengers, a record high since the opening of the port in 2018.
It is understood that the West Kowloon Station of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail currently runs 188 cross-border trains directly to 74 stations across the country every day, coupled with the convenient customs clearance mode of "co-location and two inspections" at the port, the West Kowloon high-speed rail travel mode of "14 minutes to Shenzhen-Hong Kong, 1 hour to the Bay Area, and 8 hours to the capital" has matured.
According to statistics, Mainland residents are the main force of immigration through the West Kowloon Station Port, accounting for more than 60%, while Hong Kong and Macao residents account for 36%. At the same time, the port is also a popular port for many foreign tourists, with more than 580,000 foreign tourists entering and exiting the country throughout the year. During major exhibitions such as the Canton Fair and the Hi-Tech Fair, the number of foreign tourists entering the country through the West Kowloon Station port accounted for one-third of the total number of foreign tourists entering the port in Shenzhen.
In the face of the rising flow of inbound and outbound passengers, the West Kowloon Border Inspection Station has scientifically deployed and arranged police forces, strengthened the organizational guarantee of customs clearance and inspection, optimized the service organization, improved the efficiency of inspection, and fully implemented service measures such as "special channels" and "Chinese citizens queuing for entry and exit customs clearance for no more than 30 minutes", and properly responded to the Qingming and May 5 periods.
