On the afternoon of December 29, 2023, the delivery ceremony of the fourth C919 aircraft was held in the test flight complex of COMAC Shanghai Zhuqiao Base, and COMAC delivered the third and fourth C919 passenger aircraft of the year to China Eastern Airlines, which is one short of the completion of the delivery of the first batch of five aircraft.
At the same time, the "three certificates" awarding ceremony of the fourth C919 aircraft was also carried out at the scene. The "three certificates" are the nationality registration certificate, the stand-alone airworthiness certificate and the radio license, which are the qualification certificates that each C919 must obtain before it is put into commercial flight. Based on the nationality registration certificate, the fourth C919 aircraft has the official registration number B-919E.
According to the operation arrangement of China Eastern Airlines, the fourth C919 aircraft will be put into operation on the Shanghai-Chengdu route like the first three aircraft, and will carry out the commercial operation of the Shanghai Hongqiao-Chengdu Tianfu route. At this point, the number of C919 flights per day will increase to eight.
The C919 large passenger aircraft is China's first jet trunk airliner developed in accordance with international airworthiness standards and has independent intellectual property rights. The aircraft has 158-192 seats and a range of 4,075-5,555 kilometers, and is used for medium-haul routes. At present, the first user of the aircraft is China Eastern Airlines, and the first aircraft completed its first commercial flight on May 28, 2023.
On September 28, 2023, China Eastern Airlines once again signed a purchase agreement with COMAC to order an additional 100 C919 large passenger aircraft on the basis of the first batch of five aircraft signed in 2021. This marks the largest single order for the C919 large passenger aircraft to date, and China Eastern Airlines has also become the world's largest user of the current C919 large passenger aircraft.
