At the 2024 CES Consumer Electronics Show, Volkswagen announced that it will cooperate with Cerence, which is actively engaged in the field of automotive artificial intelligence, and will introduce Cerence Chat Pro into its works in the future, so that the group's MEB and MQB EVO cars can enjoy ChatGPT-level AI technology, mainly to assist the Volkswagen Group's IDA Voice assistant, but personal information such as vehicle information will be blocked to prevent the outflow of personal information.

Cerence is a software company located in the United States, the main business is to focus on intelligent driving systems, through voice, gestures and other ways combined with the research and development of AI systems, and according to the information released by Volkswagen, the cooperation with Cerence, the goal is to be in the next MEB and MQB EVO platform models, equipped with Cerence's Cerence Chat Pro system, from the MEB and MQB EVO platform, including from 3 to 7, and Buzz including IDseries, as well as some fuel-powered models.

The main thing is the difference in the version of the on-board system, and the main function of Cerence Chat Pro is actually assistive, because the driver's voice assistant in the Volkswagen car is still Volkswagen's own IDA, and when the driver operates through voice control, it is mainly answered by IDA, but if the questions asked are more difficult, such as why can't the car fly in mid-air, then ChatGPT will answer at this time.

This naturally also involves the issue of vehicle personal information, and Volkswagen also specifically mentioned that there will be no problem of vehicle information leakage, because the system will be similar to the way of requestioning, and ChatGPT is not directly connected to the vehicle's settings. Volkswagen's plan to add the ChatGPT function to its cars this time is starting in the second quarter of 2024, and it will gradually introduce this function for its combat power.
