In 2008, Li Min, who started as a winemaker, opened a long road of rice breeding research in order to change the status quo of high-quality and low-yield rice seeds in Qing'an. In 2017, she staked all the income from brewing and built the country's first private enterprise academician workstation.
The seeds were proximal hybrid, and the stability was fast, but the variety advantage was not outstanding. Only the seeds of distant hybrids are more prominent, but the stability is slow, and it takes six to seven generations to stabilize. Li Min said that the seeds they bred this time are "mixed" varieties that are crossed with Bulgarian seeds, so they need to go to Hainan to breed in the winter.
Seed research in Qing'an County began as early as the 90s of the last century. An agricultural scientist named Guo Yanwen has devoted himself to breeding and scientific research for many years, and he founded the Northern Oasis Rice Research Institute and developed one new rice variety after another that has been called out in the province.

At present, Qing'an County has accumulated more than 8,000 rice germplasm resources of distant hybridization, and has successively approved and popularized 57 new rice varieties, and launched 3-5 new varieties every year, with a seed breeding area of more than 100,000 mu, and the cycle of high quality and low yield, high yield and low quality of seeds has been broken.
In February 2022, the Department of Planting Industry Management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced the list of "National Seed Production Counties", and Qing'an County was impressively listed.
