1. 2024 Comprehensive Ranking of Canadian Universities
1. Ranking of medical doctor universities
The items ranked are: school name, ranking, last year's ranking, student awards, student-faculty ratio, faculty signed, social and human sciences grants, medical sciences grants, total research funding, operating budget, library fees, library purchases, scholarships and bursaries, student service reputation, and graduate industry reputation survey.
Compare the previous rankings for this item in 2023 below.
McGill University topped the rankings for the fifth year in a row, with the University of Toronto once again in second place. The strength of MD universities is that they have a wide range of doctoral programs and research capabilities, as well as a medical school.
The top four positions in the 2024 ranking are once again unchanged as last year! They are still McGill University, University of Toronto, UBC University, and McMaster University.
Last year, the University of Ottawa, which ranked sixth, and the University of Alberta, which ranked fifth, switched places, and the University of Ottawa improved a little bit every year, and the year before was still seventh!
The University of Calgary is also in seventh place, up two places from last year, and compared to the previous year's twelve, the improvement is very significant!
Other universities have basically changed little, and they have advanced and retreated one place! In addition, Canada's medical and doctoral universities are just these 15 universities.
2. Ranking of comprehensive universities
This year, Simon Fraser is tied for first place. Such universities have a great deal of research activity and a wide range of programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including professional degrees.
This compares to the 2023 rankings of universities in this category.
The top three universities have not changed anything from last year and the year before (and this has been the case for several years)!Among them, Simon Fraser University continues to rank first in the comprehensive categoryThe University of Victoria followed in second place (tied for first place last year)., the University of Waterloo continues to be in third place.
The University of York in fourth place is tied for fifth place from last year, improving one place to replace the University of Guelph.
This year, in fifth place, Carleton University and the University of Guelph are tied for fifth.
Formerly known as Ryerson University, it was renamed Toronto Metropolitan University, and its ranking dropped two places from eighth place last year to tenth, making it the "biggest regression" university!
SFU has been ranked No. 1 among comprehensive universities for more than a decade, so it still has a monopoly position in comprehensive universitiesγThe rankings of other universities have not changed much.
3. Ranking of basic universities
Universities in the major undergraduate categories are mainly focused on undergraduate education, with relatively small numbers of graduate programs and graduate students.
Compare this category to 2023.
This year, the top five in the rankings have not changed, with Monte Allison University, the University of Northern British Columbia and St. Mary's University remaining in the top three. Bishop University, which is in fourth place, has gone from joint fifth last year to fourth, and Acadia University continues to hold on to fifth place.
The status of the top three universities has remained unchanged for many years!Among them, UNBC, a university in British Columbia, has always been in the top three basic universities, and it is still ranked second this year.
The biggest improvement is at the University of Lethbridge, which has improved five places from last year's 11th place to sixth place!
The biggest regression is Trent University, which has dropped three places from fourth place last year to seventh place this year!
Other universities are either improving or falling back one or two, and I think that's reasonable!
