Michelin starred chef s Ovello handmade sausage packaging design

Michelin-starred chef Andrea Marino moved from Barbaresco, Italy, to Sonoma California wine country to pursue his passion for making exquisite artisanal bratwurst and Italian baking. The delicacies he makes at Ovello transport you to Italy and offer Michelin quality in a friendly neighborhood atmosphere.

We partnered with the brand to deliver a light-hearted brand voice, beautiful brand identity, and food packaging design systems that celebrate Ovello's award-winning Italian craftsmanship and quality ingredients.

There is a lot of repetition and masculinity when it comes to branding and packaging design, so when we worked with the brand, our goal was to develop a brand and food packaging design that stood out.

Simple and practical text markings and gold leaf are paired with whimsical patterns on the sausage rolls. The repeated, custom illustrations draw inspiration from the textures found in cured meats, Italian landscapes, and delicious ingredients carefully sourced from Ovillo. The color palette is rich and approachable, and the end result is a packaging design and branding system that exudes a warm sense of sophistication.

In addition to handmade bratwurst, ovello'S Mercato also offers a menu of homemade baked goods, pasta, sauces, and a specialty pantry. We designed a flexible labeling system that allows the chef to label his creations on a daily or weekly basis while maintaining a consistent visual identity.

Salumeria also showcases their favorite products in-store, bringing customers food sourced from a selection of artisan producers sourced from across the San Francisco Bay Area as well as carefully selected products imported from Italy.

A taste that moves you.

Close your eyes and you're in Italy.
