On the vast sea, strong winds gathered dark clouds. Between the dark clouds and the sea, the petrel flies proudly like black lightning. ”

This is the beginning of Gorky's famous prose poem "The Petrel".

In the autumn of 1964, when I was just in my third year of junior high school, my Chinese teacher asked us to hold a recital. As a representative of the language class, I naturally have to respond positively. So I went to the library to look for materials, and the library teacher, who was fluent in Russian, recommended Gorky's "The Petrel" to me. I liked it when I saw it, and it didn't take me long for me to memorize it. At the recital, when I recited "Let the storm come more violently", my blood boiled and my heart beat faster, as if I had become a petrel.

The third year of junior high school is the most dreaming age, due to the injustice of fate, my wings were broken, and my desire to fly like a petrel could not be realized. A few years later, in the vigorous movement, many people changed their names, so "Yaowu", "Xiangyang" and "Aihong" flew all over the sky. I took my household registration book to the police station and asked to change my name to "Haiyan", but the policeman who received me said, "How can a man give a woman's name?""Haiyan's dream was shattered, so I expressed my love for Haiyan in another way. When I had a hardcover diary, the first article I transcribed was "Haiyan", the first page was *** quotations, and the back was "Haiyan", I put my feelings for Haiyan into copying, so the handwriting was particularly correct.

I started by reading Gorky's "The Petrel", and then read his trilogy "Childhood", "In the World", "My University", "I pounce on the book like a hungry man pounces on bread." (Gorky). Although many books were listed as ** at that time, I secretly read Pushkin's poems in various ways, read ** by Turgenev, Chekhov, Tolstoy and other writers, and at the same time read a large number of world classics. In the 13 years from 1965 to 1978, I read 390 books, of which 215 were translated and 36 were written reading notes. It was Haiyan who led me into the treasure trove of literature.

During this year's National Day, I visited the China Museum of Modern Press and Publication, and was pleasantly surprised to find that there were a large number of materials on Ge Baoquan and "Haiyan" in the "Messenger of Culture and Friendship - Exhibition to Commemorate the 110th Anniversary of Ge Baoquan's Birth", and the forgotten memories were salvaged. I wrote in the guest book: "I came for Ge Baoquan's "Haiyan". "Haiyan" 59 years ago has influenced my whole life. ”

From the exhibition, I learned that Ge Baoquan's famous prose poem "Haiyan" was selected as a Chinese textbook for primary and secondary schools and became a well-known famous article. As early as the 40s of the 20th century, Ge Baoquan translated this prose poem. In 1959, the People's Education Publishing House selected this famous work of Gorky and sent a letter to Ge Baoquan, hoping to revise the translation of "Haiyan" according to the latest wording habits, so there was a manuscript of the translation of "Haiyan" in 1959, and many revisions later. Among the exhibits, the manuscripts of the three versions of Gorky's Haiyan translated by Ge Baoquan are particularly valuable.

Let the storm come harder", I still felt a strong tremor in my old age. (Zheng Zihua).
