Recently, China Customs magazine released the 2022 report on the foreign trade competitiveness of Chinese cities. The report announced the list of China's top 100 foreign trade cities. The selected cities are widely distributed, from 22 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, and are relatively concentrated in terms of geographical division, of which 60 cities are from the eastern region, 26 cities from the central region have been shortlisted, and 10 cities from the western region and 4 cities in the northeast region have been shortlisted. 
The eastern coastal provinces have a huge advantage
The four provinces with the most shortlisted cities are Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangdong and Zhejiang, with 15, 13, 10 and 9 cities shortlisted, respectively. Shandong and Jiangsu are the strongest as a whole, with Shandong having the most shortlisted cities, while all prefecture-level cities in Jiangsu have been shortlisted.
Guangdong and Zhejiang are very strong, in the top 10 rankings, Guangdong has four cities shortlisted, namely the first place in Shenzhen, the fifth place in Guangzhou, the eighth place in Dongguan City and the ninth place in Zhuhai City. Zhejiang Province has and three cities in the top 10, namely Ningbo City in fourth place, Jinhua City in seventh place and Hangzhou City in tenth place.
In addition, the top 10 are also ranked by Shanghai, Suzhou and Beijing.
Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangdong, and Zhejiang are ranked among the top 100 foreign trade cities in 2022 mainly for the following reasons: First, they are located in the eastern coastal region of China, close to the world's major economies, and have unique geographical advantages. Secondly, these provinces have relatively strong economic strength, relatively complete industrial structure, and a number of large enterprises with strong strength. Third, they are the pioneers of China's reform and opening up, with a high degree of opening up to the outside world, attracting a large number of foreign-funded enterprises and foreign trade enterprises to settle in. Fourth, some cities have formed industrial clusters, such as the electronic information industry in Suzhou and Wuxi in Jiangsu Province, and the manufacturing industry in the Pearl River Delta region of Guangdong Province. Finally, in order to promote the development of foreign trade, the state and local governments have introduced a series of preferential policies to provide a good development environment for foreign trade enterprises in these areas. 
The central provinces rose rapidlyAfter the four major provinces, Jiangxi, Anhui and Hunan provinces ranked 5-7, with 7, 7 and 6 cities respectively. Anhui, Jiangxi and Hunan mainly benefit from the geographical advantages, which can better integrate into the development of economically developed regions such as the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta, and attract foreign capital and foreign trade enterprises to invest and start business. At the same time, in recent years, we have vigorously developed modern manufacturing, high-tech industries and other industries, forming a certain industrial foundation and providing strong support for foreign trade. In addition, these provinces have abundant human resources and low labor costs, attracting foreign enterprises and foreign trade enterprises to settle in. In the future, Anhui, Jiangxi and Hunan are expected to achieve more brilliant results in the field of foreign trade.
In 2022, the overall development trend of China's foreign trade situation showed a steady and positive trend.
