Hello Teacher!

I am a college student who graduated this year, and after graduation, I worked as a purchasing merchandiser in a company. I don't feel like I'm a good fit for the industry because I don't do much right now, but I can't do it every day. I really want to get the job done, deliver it on time, and leave work on time or a little overtime.

But the reality is that because of my own efficiency problems, I always make mistakes, which leads to me not being able to finish my work every day, and I have to come to the company to work overtime on weekends. I've been doing it for a long time, but I feel like I can't hold it anymore.

Should I change careers?

Ask for guidance!Thank you!

Hello classmates!I have encountered your confusion and pain before, and I am deeply touched.

I plan to answer from the following aspects for your reference:

The first point is the question of whether to change careers

You may have an answer to this question in your own heart, but I just want to clarify your answer, that is, the problem you are encountering now is a problem of your own work ability and efficiency, not a problem of the work itself. When you encounter a problem at work, you should solve it, not the "person" who solves it.

For students who have just graduated from school and stepped into the workplace, although the company will give a period of training, the little things learned during this time are not enough to deal with the problems encountered in the work.

And some problems may not seem to others to be a problem at all, and they will not train you, but you will feel that they are big problems, which will also cause you to be less efficient than others.

My classmates who are still in school often ask me what I need to prepare and learn in school in advance in order to quickly adapt and win in my future work. There is a good answer to this question here.

At school, you should pay more attention to your own efficiency in dealing with problems and improve your ability to deal with interpersonal relationships.

Because these two abilities are the most effective and practical in the work.

Improving work efficiency means that you should have the ability to quickly identify problems, analyze problems, calmly evaluate, conceive solutions, and implement and solve problems.

As for the problems you encounter, if the first feeling is "how can I encounter such a problem, what should I do, why am I so unlucky, why am I so unhappy, annoyed......"That's basically how you think when you were a student.

The correct way to deal with it is: you first need to confirm what problem you have encountered, and then think about what is the best solution to this problem, whether you can solve it independently, how to eliminate the problem, if you find that you can't solve it independently, then who can help me, how can I ask him for help......

Learn to recognize the essence of the problemThis is the biggest difference between adults and children.

Improving your interpersonal skills means that you need to be able to deal with others.

Everyone often jokingly called themselves "i people" at school, and labeled themselves as "not good at socializing", and since then they have been hiding in the fortress they have created with peace of mind. Reality will quickly tear off your disguise, it doesn't care if you are an "E person" or an "I person", it will only test your true level in its own way.

The job is to deal with a group of people by yourself, and connect and communicate with colleagues, leaders, customers, big leaders and other stakeholders. If you can't connect with people quickly and communicate your needs and problems correctly, the simple things will become very complicated for you.

The second point is about how to improve work efficiency

In fact, when I first started working, I also faced the problem you mentioned.

Sometimes even if I want to be more diligent, or I want to do more work in front of my colleagues, I don't know what I should do, and sometimes I even do the wrong thing, causing everyone to get busier and more chaotic.

This problem is actually not a personality problem, not only you will encounter it, I believe that newcomers who have just entered the workplace will encounter it, so how should we solve it?

The answer isPay more

It may be a bit of a pain in the crack, but it's probably the easiest and most effective way to do it.

When many students are still in school, they study which companies do not work overtime, which companies do not roll, and how to enjoy their off-duty life and weekends in a relaxed and happy way, but in fact, it is not easy to do this.

Ask a child how to walk quickly and steadily

I think everyone knows that there is no need to rush, just walk for a while. But who can say that newcomers who have just entered the workplace want to handle the work quickly and well, what special channels are there?

Many problems and ideas in work are not something that you will understand naturally, but you need to think, practice, and spend time pondering.

Maybe in the years to come, you will look back and say that you didn't study much hard at the beginning, and your ability will naturally improve, but if you go back to the way you came, who can guarantee that what you said is so easy and natural?

As an experienced elderly person in the workplace, I suggest that when you encounter problems and difficulties at work, you should not put too much emphasis on your comfort and comfort.

If you should spend time researching work, you should spend time researching, you should go to the workplace on weekends, and you should go to the library to learn experience. You must have a spirit of coming from behind to deal with your position in the team.

The reason why we like to recruit students who have graduated from prestigious universities is not that they have more skills or certificates than students who are double non-graduates, but that they, the vast majority of them, have the spirit of hardship and study, the stubbornness of not being willing to be left behind, and the ability to be good at researching and discovering problems and solving problems on their own).

If you feel like you can't make it through, I suggest you think more about what your ultimate goal is

Is it to live every day comfortably, or to get a quick promotion and salary increase, or to endure what level of salary will rise after three years, or to jump to a certain company after a few years?

If you can focus more on your goals, then you will be more receptive to the hard work you started with. If you don't have any career goals, then you'll be distracted by feeling the pain and anxiety of the moment.

Sometimes things aren't that bad at all, or there is a simple way to deal with them, but your mind is already burning on the fire and you feel like you're going through the years.

The third point is the question of how to spend this time

Based on my own experience, if someone had told me these things at the time, I would probably have said, "I understand everything, but I ......."”

It's okay, I can talk about something else.

After working for about three years, I also encountered a bottleneck, and I didn't understand why I went to work, why I did things that I was unhappy about, and why I had to endure this endless life.

At that time, there was a lot of pressure at work every day, there were many thieves, and then I often worked overtime, and I felt that I was going to be squeezed in the company's juicer and only the scum was left.

But because I really have no way out, I really don't know what I can do after leaving my job, so I learned a self-PUA method in the book:

When I feel like I'm having a very serious problem or problem, I close my eyes and imagine that I'm 80 years old. Looking back, I think of many years ago today, I encountered such a problem, how did I do it, how did I face it, and how ......did I face itI feel that time flies, and in a blink of an eye, I am already 80 years old. If time allows me to do it again, I will definitely face these problems with a more positive and optimistic attitude, and I will definitely "turn big things into small things" ......If only there was a chance to do it again......When I opened my eyes, a miracle happened, I was indeed young again, I did go from 80 years old back to the present, and I had another chance to choose......The difficulties and problems in front of me don't seem so scary anymore, and I even think it's funny, why was I so anxious just now?

It's a great way to do it, and I've used it at many stages of my life.

If you're also facing some anxiety right now, you might as well give it a try.

This note is the first answer in 2024.

In December '23, I wrote a lot of such answers for a period of time, and I also received a lot of support and encouragement from my classmates, and I feel very grateful.

At the beginning of the new year, I hope to set a better and higher goal for myself and give myself some hope in life.

Thank you again for your company, and I hope we all get better and better.

Take your time, faster. Come on!
