The KENZO X VERDY series is here

Mondo Digital Updated on 2024-01-28

Kenzo and Artistic Director Nigo have teamed up with graphic artist Verdy to unveil a bespoke pattern for the Kenzo Spring/Summer 2024 runway, which was unveiled for the first time at this year's Paris Fashion Week Kenzo runway, as well as at Kenzo's Shanghai runway show in July.

Inspired by the brand's iconic East-meets-West cultural collision, the Kenzo x Verdy collection will be available from December 2 to December 17 at the Kenzo pop-up store on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, and from December 16 to December 26 at the pop-up store at 10 Corso Como, Seoul.

Nigo's best friend, Verdy, is a graphic artist from Japan who explores themes of youth culture, rebellion and nostalgia through bold, playful, and colorful designs. His work draws on elements of skateboarding, hip-hop and comics and has been hailed as a prime example of fusion of Eastern and Western streetwear. That's why Nigo, which embraces the idea of the collision of Eastern and Western cultures, invited Verdy to inject new and creative inspiration into the design of the new collection.

Verdy's iconic font is used throughout a collection of items launched during the festive season, and this is also the Kenzo Spring/Summer 2024 collection designed by Nigo. Verdy reinterprets the iconic motifs of "Kenzo", "Kenzo Paris", "18 rue Vivienne" and "1970" in a variety of weavings, knits, denims, leather goods and accessories.

In the collection, a cropped black trench coat with a white logo is paired with a navy blue knit sweater and vest with a white logo. Knitted pieces include a black and white knitted cardigan with the word "KP" printed on the chest and the words "Kenzo Paris" printed on the back. There's also a black sweatshirt with a white 'Kenzo Paris' motif printed on the front, and a white version with blue lettering. The Oversized T-shirt is available in black and white with an enlarged graphic design printed on the front and back in red or white - KP, "Kenzo Paris" or "18 Rue Vivienne".

The Kenzo x Verdy collection features navy knit sweaters, knitted cardigans and skirts, all printed with the 'Kenzo Paris' logo. Knitwear also includes a pink polo dress and an off-white short-waisted hoodie, both stamped with the 'Kenzo Paris' logo. In addition, the collection is available in black, white and pink BOXY T-shirts, as well as loose pink or white T-shirts with a bold logo design on the front. The black and pink knitted cardigans and the off-white classic preppy cardigan with a red logo round out the knitted assortment.

Unisex pieces

The collection features unisex pieces: a black hoodie with a large white logo on the front and an off-white hoodie with a red logo. In addition, there is a navy blue knitted cardigan printed with the "Kenzo Paris" logo in white and blue. Both leather biker jackets and baseball jackets are stamped with an enlarged logo - "18 rue Vivienne" and "KP" on the chest and "Kenzo Paris" on the back, giving even more possibilities for genderless dressing. The sweatshirt category includes hoodies, jogging bottoms, and oversized T-shirts in either a red logo on a white background or a white logo on a black background.

The Kenzo x Verdy series will be available from December 4 in selected offline stores in Kenzo Chinese mainland, Kenzo Tmall official *** and Kenzo WeChat official boutique.

Aboutkenzo

Inherit the classics and carry forward the past. Going back to the brand's original intentions, Artistic Director Nigo gave Kenzo a new concept of inheriting the founder's vibrant urban style and truly embodying fashion design in real life. In Kenzo's new perspective, Nigo's innate street culture DNA and Kenzo Takada's pop culture language are engaged in an ongoing dialogue and a creative exchange of ideas.

With a keen intuition for contemporary design, Nigo has created a new perspective on Kenzo's fashion wardrobe: Real to Wear, satisfying people's true desire for fashion in the post-digital era. Transcending the traditional labels of "formal", "casual" or "street" fashion, we reintegrate and recreate a stylish wardrobe that meets today's needs and embodies a pragmatic approach to fashion.

A series of sparks are happening: focusing on Kenzo's classic design code, drawing inspiration from the founder's "jungle" fashion to create sought-after fashion items, while the new exclusive proposition is rapidly increasing the brand's global appeal and making its mark on the history of the fashion house. In this creative encounter between the brand's founder and successor designer, Kenzo's core philosophy is constantly revealed: to create a fashion that is future-oriented and unconventional, based on historical classics.
