Recently, JinkoSolar, the world's most innovative photovoltaic and energy storage company, has successfully passed the target verification of the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTI), becoming the first photovoltaic group in the world to complete the verification of all (short-term, long-term, and net-zero) targets of the SBTI at the same time. At the same time, JinkoSolar is also the second group enterprise in Chinese mainland and the third in the global semiconductor industry to complete all SBTI target audits at the same time.
SBTI is a global initiative launched by the Center for Global Environmental Information (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Society for Nature (WWF) to help companies set science-based targets to help companies set science-based greenhouse gas reduction targets that are consistent with the requirements of the Paris Agreement. Under the global trend of carbon neutrality, participating in and formulating science-based targets has become a new business rule, reflecting the competitiveness and responsibility of enterprises in the field of sustainable development and ESG. At present, more than 7,000 companies around the world have joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTI), including Tesla, Apple, BASF, Lenovo, Tencent, etc.
At the end of 2021, JinkoSolar officially joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTI) and submitted a science based targets commitmentIn the first half of 2023, JinkoSolar released its 2022 ESG report, in which it put forward its own science-based carbon reduction targets for the first timeAt the end of 2023, JinkoSolar's scientific carbon targets were officially verified by SBTI, marking JinkoSolar's emission reduction targets in line with those proposed in the Paris Agreement5 Align your goals.
JinkoSolar announced its participation in the RE100 Green Initiative in late 2019 and the Science Based Targets in late 2021. Through innovative photovoltaic technology and reliable photovoltaic products, JinkoSolar provides clean, safe, cheap and smart photovoltaic power to the world, and responds to global climate change with economical, green and feasible solutions.
As of the fourth quarter of 2023, JinkoSolar has become the first PV company to ship more than 200GW of modules, which means that 1 out of every 8 modules in the world comes from JinkoSolar, and 1 kg of carbon emission reduction for every 8 kg of PV products contributes to JinkoSolar.
JinkoSolar's carbon reduction targets have been verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTI), which not only represents our ambition to address climate change, but also provides a clear guide to action across the value chain. JinkoSolar looks forward to working with upstream and downstream enterprises and more partners to promote the global energy transition and make greater contributions to building a greener and more sustainable future.
SBTI plans to announce JinkoSolar's approved net-zero emissions target on January 25, 2024.
