Scholars generally believe that Zen Buddhism originated from the Indian idea of meditation, and after the spread of Zen to the east, Zen Buddhism, a school of Buddhism with Chinese characteristics, was formally formed in the Tang Dynasty of China, and gradually became the mainstream of the Central Plains, which had a huge and far-reaching impact on all aspects of Chinese culture. Zen Buddhism was later introduced to Japan and Korea, and then to Europe and the United States through Japan.

Zen Buddhism is a Chinese Buddhism and a major ideological achievement of the integration of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. Since the Sixth Patriarch Huineng Master, Zen Buddhism got rid of Indian Zen and was completely sinicized.

Apple founder Steve Jobs is reportedly a Xi of Zen Buddhism. At the age of 18, he Xi the Zen methods of the Soto sect with the Japanese Zen master Otogawa Hirobun, a sect of the Southern Sect derived from the Sixth Ancestor Master Huineng.

Xi Zen Buddhism should also follow the rules of the three Buddhist schools of "precepts, determination, and wisdom." Buddhism is the study of reason, with relatively strict precepts and methods. Therefore, when you really learn Xi, you will feel sometimes troubled in your body and mind.

The couplet "Meditation and Wisdom, Enlightenment and Wisdom" is a little bit of my experience in studying Buddhism Xi these years, especially in the process of learning Xi Zen.

1. Literal definition of "meditation and wisdom".

1. Jing: "Shuowen Jiezi" "審shěn also" "審同宷shěn," 宷, "宷, Xi also." Knowing the truth also. "Yes, in detail. ”

The meaning of later Shijing is constantly evolving, and the interpretation is gradually changing. The "Ancient Chinese Dictionary" has two characters for jing, among them: (1) jingtongjing, which means clean. (2) The meaning of tranquility, tranquility, and stability.

2. Heart: "Shuo Wen Jie Zi" "Heart, the heart of the human heart is hidden, in the body, pictogram, the doctor said that it is the fire hidden, and all the hearts belong from the heart."

The "Tibet" here, I personally think that it should be a fake character, read zàng, and the "Tibetan Tong臟" 臟 in ancient Chinese is today's "dirty".

"Ancient Chinese Dictionary" "心: 心;spirit, mind, thoughts, feelings, etc.".

3. Repair: "Saying Wen Jie Zi" "Repair, ornament" and "ornamentation,".shuāalso""" Ancient Chinese Dictionary "Xiu: to embellish, to decorate;Repair, remediation;Xi, follow, etc."

4. Wisdom: "Shuowen Jiezi" "Zhi, Literacy (識詞) also" "Shuowen Jiezi" does not include "Zhi" but includes another ancient word, which cannot be typed, and interested friends can search for it themselves. "Dictionary of Ancient Chinese" "Zhi: Intelligent, wise;Reason. ”

In ancient Chinese, knowledge and wisdom are fake, "Shuowen Jie Zi" "knows, words also", "words, meaning inside and outside." ”

In the "Kangxi Dictionary", "wisdom, knowledge." I don't know anything. ”

I personally understand:

(1) Tranquility: stable and clean;

(2) Heart: Heart and God. There is not only the heart of the body and its system, but also the mental system of the soul.

(3) Repair: removal, punishment.

(4) Wisdom: boundless knowledge.

2. Word-for-word interpretation of "Dingqi Huiguang".

1. Ding: "Shuo Wen Jie Zi" "Ding, Anye", "An, Jingye". "Dictionary of Ancient Chinese" "Ding, stability;Stop, stop".

2. Qi: "Shuo Wen Jie Zi" "Qi, Kai also". "Dictionary of Ancient Chinese" "Open, open, open;enlighten, inspire".

3. Hui: "Shuo Wen Jie Zi" "Hui, YuxuānAlso, from the heart of the huì sound "儇, Hui also". "Ancient Chinese Dictionary" "Hui, clever, intelligent;Cunning;Buddhism, the paraphrase of Sanskrit 'Prajna', is the wisdom of the truth. ”

In some texts in ancient Chinese, "Huitong Hui" is now written as "Huineng Master" in the previous woodcut book as "Huineng Master". If explained according to the word "Hui", "Hui, benevolence." It means the same as "benevolence" in Confucianism.

To add: Hui is a character composed of coma huì and heart, "Shuowen Jie Zi" "coma, sweep also" "Ancient Chinese Dictionary" "coma: broom;Comet Wisdom;Comet;Star name, comet. ”

4. Light: "Shuowen Jiezi" "light, Ming", "Ming, Zhao", "Zhao, Ming". "Ancient Chinese Dictionary" "Light: bright, brilliant;Glory, glory;Wide, vast;Carry it forward;time, time, etc."

I personally understand:

(1) Stabilize: stabilize, stop;

(2) Enlightenment: open, enlighten;

(3) Wisdom: Intelligence, sweeping away the clutter in the heart;

(4) Light: Radiance, contemplation.

To sum up: Meditation and wisdom, enlightenment and wisdom can be interpreted as: let my heart and soul be stable and clean, remove those things that are useless, hinder, and confuse me to obtain true knowledge, so that I can Xi true knowledge that conforms to the laws of heaven and earth;Let me stop my senseless suspicions in my stability, ask the Buddha to enlighten my wisdom, clear the darkness in my heart, let the light of the universe look at my mind, and make me enlightened.

Confucianism says: "Knowing and stopping and then having a certainty, being fixed and then being quiet, being quiet and then being able to be peaceful, being at peace and then being able to consider, and then being able to get after consideration." "The Book of Rites: University".

Taoism says, "To the extreme;Keep quiet. All things work together, and I look at it. There are many things and things, and each one returns to its roots. In the final analysis, it is said to be quiet, and quiet is said to return to life. Returning to life is said to be normal, and knowing is often said to be clear. I don't know what is usual, and I act in vain. Knowing the constant tolerance, tolerance is the public, the public is the whole, the whole is the sky, the sky is the way, the road is long, and the body is invincible. "Tao Te Ching

The Buddha said: "precepts, concentration, and wisdom" three learnings.

The three schools of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism all talk about the wisdom of "tranquility and stability", and Zen Buddhism carries it forward and is strong with vitality.

The above is a little experience of my meditation, please give me a lot of advice, here, I would like to thank you in advance.
