Brentford FC are reportedly facing a possible departure of Ivan Toney and are reportedly considering FC Cincinnati striker Brandon Vazquez as a potential target in the upcoming January transfer window. Toney's eight-month ban will soon come to an end and clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea have expressed interest in signing him. Brentford's technical director Lee has acknowledged the possibility that Toney will soon leave the club.
As a result, Brentford are looking for potential replacements and reinforcements for their forward line. Bryan Mbuyo's three-month injury and Yoane Wissa's participation in the Africa Cup of Nations have put more emphasis on the need for attacking options. Vasquez's stellar performances at FC Cincinnati have made him a potential contender, with him scoring 17 goals in 40 games in the 2023 season.
However, other clubs in Spain, Germany and France are also reportedly keeping an eye on the American international. Since joining FCC in 2019, Vasquez has scored 43 goals and provided 15 assists in 127 appearances, and his current contract expires in December 2025 with an option to extend for a further 12 months. Brentford's consideration of signing Vasquez was not without hesitation, especially his lack of experience in European football. The club is also looking for a versatile striker and a new defender. With the January transfer window approaching, Brentford will need to assess their options and decide whether pursuing a deal with Vasquez fits their goals and requirements.
