At the meeting, the teachers proposed to set up a calligraphy salon to cultivate the successor force of calligraphy. This proposal was recognized by everyone, and this is also the prototype of the Qiantang Zhizhai Calligraphy Salon, and the leader of the salon is naturally Zhang Yanru. Hobbies and responsibilities prompt everyone to carry out monthly exchanges and discussions, from the form of the chapter to the method of temporary posts, from the direction of the exhibition to the style of the method, and calligraphy-related matters, are all in the discussion, a few years, rain or shine, never stop.
Under the specific guidance of teacher Zhang Yanru, four years later, the members of the salon entered the exhibition and won awards in the national calligraphy exhibition one by one, which was called the "Xin'an phenomenon in the calligraphy world". At that time, most of the members in the salon have grown into the backbone of the book world, and the spirit of turning suffering into joy and perseverance at that time is also touching when I think about it now. That's when I became firm in my own calligraphy.
Later, because of the teacher's passage to the city, the distance is a little farther, and the opportunity to meet is few, and the occasional meeting is also in a hurry.
Zhang Yanru is like a book
I have known Mr. Yanru for many years, and I also have an understanding of his learning thoughts. His philosophy of learning is profound and special, especially his open-mindedness and the idea that "everything is for my use" and not being confined by the law is impressive. This also determines the uniqueness of his calligraphy creation, which has a deep influence on me. His in-depth and extensive exploration of the tradition, especially his "statue book" based on the Wei monument is both ancient and new, and is well received.
In 2013, after seeing the unique calligraphy works of Mr. Yanru, Mr. Zhang Hai proposed that the Henan Provincial Calligraphy Association hold an academic seminar on Zhang Yanru's calligraphy. In 2015, I went to the Chinese Academy of Arts to study, and learned that Yan Ru also set up a studio in Beijing. It is a pity that the two years of study have passed in a hurry, and the Beijing covenant has not been realized, but the attention to each other has never stopped. At the end of 2020, I wrote a year-end summary article, in which I recalled Mr. Yanru's help in calligraphy: "Mr. Yanru has made great contributions to the growth of me and several calligraphers around me, especially the guidance of calligraphy. Although we have not seen each other much in recent years, our attention to his creations has not diminished, especially his innovative and innovative explorations, which are unforgettable. One day last year, Mr. Yanru called** and said that he had organized an elegant gathering and asked me to join, of course I couldn't ask for it, but because of the distance, I didn't participate much. Tongqulu is like the teacher's fasting number, taking the meaning of extending in all directions. His artistic practice and exploration are also like this, with an open mind and a touch of analogy.
