At the competition site, the children unpacked and assembled the parts of the single-cylinder engine (proportionally reduced version) for the competition, and the four students worked together to assemble them carefully according to the instructions. With hundreds of parts, including small pieces of machinery, electronics, and screws, the kids had to work together to be as patient as they could get started, and the engine had to be able to start running (with batteries) to complete the race.
