【Military Martial Subplane】Author: Military Mushroom.
An organization that's even harder to mess with.
Since Israel attacked Gaza and started the war with Hamas for more than two months, Israel has not achieved any large-scale victories, but has been mired in street fighting, which has been caused by Hamas guerrillas.
But what I never expected was that Israel was still thinking about opening up a second battlefield!
On 18 December, IDF spokesman Jonathan Conricus claimed that the Israeli military had developed a plan to invade southern Lebanon, and that the Israeli leadership had approved the plan and set a timetable.
On December 24, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced that it had carried out "massive" strikes against Lebanese Allah targets, using fighter jets to attack Allah's military buildings, rocket launchers and other facilities.
Why, then, is Israel attacking Lebanon while fighting Hamas? Can Allah in Lebanon withstand it?
Speaking of which, it is not at all surprising that Israel now wants to fight Allah in Lebanon.
Because since this round of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Lebanese Allah Party has been very active, and the exchange of fire with the Israeli army has occurred at least daily, and at the Cape Hanikra collective farm on the border with Lebanon in the northwestern corner of Israel, the Jews who originally settled here have fled for fear of being affected by the war.
Why, then, did Allah in Lebanon actively participate in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict? This begins with the history of Lebanon.
Lebanon was originally part of the Arab Empire, occupied by the Ottoman Empire in 1517, and in the 19th century, the Ottoman Empire divided Lebanon into two provinces, the northern part was governed by the Maronite feudal lords, and the southern part was ruled by the Islamic Druze feudal lords, and after World War I, Lebanon was occupied by France.
On November 22, 1943, Lebanon officially declared its independence from French rule and established the Lebanese Republic. According to the agreement at independence, the commander-in-chief of the army was a Maronites, the speaker of parliament and the prime minister were Shia and Sunni respectively, and the seats of parliamentarians and ministers were distributed in proportion to the population of each sect.
However, with the change in the proportion of the population of each sect, the original political balance has been broken, and the tension between the various religious forces has become increasingly serious.
In the 70s, the variable that really broke the balance came, and that was the PLO.
The PLO is the Palestine Liberation Organization, and Arafat, the famous "immortal bird of the Middle East", was the leader of the PLO.
The PLO had been attacking Israel from bases in the West Bank and East Jerusalem (then occupied by Jordan), and then Israel launched the Third Middle East War, which took the West Bank and East Jerusalem away at once.
There were originally more than 1 million Palestinians living here, but after the Israeli occupation, more than 400,000 refugees fled into Jordan with the retreating Jordanian army, forming a huge refugee camp, and the PLO also came to Jordan.
Since then, the PLO has continued its armed resistance against Israel based in refugee camps in Jordan.
Slowly, Jordan couldn't stand it anymore.
On the one hand, the PLO's attack on Israel will certainly be retaliated against by Israel, but Israel's bombing of the PLO in Jordan is in fact a violation of Jordan's sovereignty, and Jordan is equivalent to being shot while lying down.
On the other hand, although the camps are located in Jordan, the PLO is responsible for the management of the camps, and they do not obey Jordanian law, which creates a state within a state.
After a long time, the contradictions between Jordan and the PLO became bigger and bigger, and between mid-1968 and the end of 1969, there were no less than 500 armed clashes between Jordan and the PLO, and then the PLO made a plan:
Assassinate the King!Doves occupy the magpie's nest!Secession of Jordan!
The PLO orchestrated several assassinations of the Jordanian king, Hussein ibn Talal, and instigated the Jordanian army to mutiny to overthrow the king's rule, but all failed, resulting in an open armed conflict between the PLO guerrillas and the Jordanian army in the capital, Amman.
At this time, a black swan event occurred.
On September 6, 1970, the People's Front (PPLA), an internal faction in the PLO, hijacked three Western airliners and entered Jordan, taking 300 passengers from the United States, Britain, Israel, West Germany, and Switzerland hostage, and demanding that Western countries release Palestinian "prisoners."
Seeing that his demands were not met, the PLO directly blew up three planes!
Feeling a great loss of face in the international community, the Jordanian military's patience finally exceeded the limit, and without the order of King Hussein, the Jordanian army launched a full-scale attack on the PLO, killing 4,000 Palestinian guerrillas in just 5 days, and even ran to the refugee camp, ** tens of thousands of Palestinian refugees.
This is the "Black September Incident" that shocked the world.
The PLO was hit hard by the Black September incident and had to flee to Lebanon. However, the arrival of the PLO has greatly changed the balance between the forces of religion and Islam, and the contradictions between the two sides have rapidly intensified.
Purple Shia, Red Maronite, Blue Druze Green Sunni.
In April 1975, a 15-year civil war broke out between the Lebanese and Islamic factions, in which the PLO played a huge role, and did not forget to cross the Lebanese border with Israel to attack Israel.
In retaliation for the PLO, Israel invaded Lebanon on June 6, 1982, the fifth Middle East war, in which Israel expelled all civilians from the Lebanese land it occupied, and then supported the pro-Israel Lebanese Church Falangist to carry out a large-scale attack on Muslims, and countless Muslims became refugees, including 600,000 Shiite refugees.
The displacement of these Shiite refugees into the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, with no shelter, no jobs and no hope, has led them to hate Israel for all this.
Under the influence of this hatred, Iran stepped in and guided Shia Muslims to form Allah, whose purpose is to oppose Israel.
Therefore, a large number of Shiite refugees went to Iran for training, and then returned home with **, and began the armed resistance of "expelling Israel", during which Allah received a large amount of military aid from Iran, and Allah leader Fadra and Iran's supreme leader Khamenei also became good friends.
To put it bluntly, Allah is the spokesman for Iran in Lebanon.
Lebanese Allah, with the dream of returning home, has repeatedly attacked Israel's so-called safe zone, and although it has been listed as a terrorist organization by Israel and killed Allah's leader Mousavi, it has never been able to completely eliminate the resistance of Allah Lebanon.
Israeli armoured soldiers display captured Allah flags.
Eventually, after 18 years of armed resistance and guerrilla warfare, the Israeli forces in southern Lebanon were exhausted and suffered heavy losses, and finally Israel finally got tired and withdrew its troops from Lebanon in 2000.
After Israel withdrew its troops, Allah, the hero of the "resistance to Israel", of course, wanted to reap the greatest fruits of victory, so it took advantage of the situation to take over all of southern Lebanon and de facto establish a "state within a state" in Lebanon.
In other words, although Allah is not the ruling party of Lebanon, and its armed forces are not the Lebanese army, it is indeed a local separatist group with a huge political and military network and strong armed forces, and is one of Israel's strongest enemies in the Middle East.
Of course, although Israel has withdrawn its troops from Lebanon, it still occupies many key terrain and strongholds, so the conflict between Allah and Israel has never ended, and the two sides have never stopped firing guns.
So, what exactly does Allah in Lebanon have to fight Israel for so long?
This starts with the military and political system of Allah in Lebanon.
Lebanese Allah is strong in Lebanon, controlling southern Lebanon, parts of Beirut, southern Lebanon and the eastern Bekaa Valley, covering a total area of more than a third of Lebanese territory.
Allah has a tiny but compact administrative system, with the highest authority being the Shura Council.
The Shura Council is the highest decision-making body, with nine members (later reduced to seven), elected by the main leadership of Allah, responsible for formulating the overall vision and policies, overseeing the overall strategy of the party's functions, and making political decisions.
The committee is heavily influenced by Iran, and the Shura committee is subject to the authority of Iran's supreme leader on matters of religious affairs (although in many cases, religious and administrative affairs are inseparable), and two senior IRGC officials are involved in deciding major issues such as war. For example, during the Lebanese-Israeli war in 2006, Iran's Quds Force commander Soleimani traveled to southern Lebanon to participate in decision-making.
The Shura Committee consists of administrative, judicial, parliamentary, political and jihadist committees, each of which has several bodies responsible for specific matters. Further below, the Armed Forces Agency and the Ministry of Intelligence and Security have been established.
We found that this organizational structure is very simple and efficient, a bit like North Korea (in fact, Lebanon and North Korea are indeed close), and the degree of organization is very strong, which determines that this organization has strong cohesion, execution and combat effectiveness. In fact, in Lebanon, the Allah-controlled area has always been the area with the best infrastructure construction, the best education and medical care, the highest efficiency, and the lowest level of corruption.
Of course, the Lebanese Allah Party is best known for its armed forces.
Lebanese Allah has never announced the number of its armed forces, but according to ** estimates, Lebanese Allah has 1,000 officers and 6,000-10,000 volunteers (soldiers), which does not seem to be much, but the problem is that because of Allah's military-political system, it can easily mobilize 100,000 people to fight as long as needed.
As for military equipment, Allah is also much better than Hamas, because unlike Hamas, which is blocked, Allah can receive a steady stream of Iranian military aid through Syria, not to mention light **, anti-tank missiles and rockets, Allah even has ballistic missiles, anti-ship missiles and anti-aircraft missiles! In addition, legend has it that Lebanese Allah was instructed by tactical instructors and engineering experts of the Korean People's Army Army.
So much so that Israel admits that Allah is "by far the largest guerrilla organization in the world", and if there is an analogy, the formalization of Hamas is equivalent to the Boxers, then the formalization of Allah is equivalent to the six towns of Beiyang.
And what really made Lebanese Allah famous was the Lebanese-Israeli war in 2006.
On January 27, 2006, Hamas, which advocated armed resistance, won Palestine**, which made Israel very anxious and began to blockade Palestine, causing Hamas's dissatisfaction. Clashes ensued, with Israel arresting and imprisoning ministers and parliamentarians from Hamas**, followed by massive bombing and incursions into Gaza.
Following the outbreak of the conflict, Allah declared its support for Hamas, and on 12 July 2006, Allah forces launched a military operation codenamed "Honest Promises", which launched a surprise attack on northern Israel, killing eight Israeli soldiers and capturing two.
Israel retaliated with Operation Justice Reward, which carried out air strikes on 7,000 Lebanese targets and a ground invasion of Lebanon. Du Zhaoyu, an officer of China's United Nations peacekeeping force, was killed by Israeli bombing during this operation.
However, Israel's ground operations have not been going well.
First, on 19 July, the Israeli army attacked the village of Maru Rass in southern Lebanon, defending the village with only 17 Allah soldiers, or 50 even with the reinforcements of the militia.
The result? The elite 7th, 188th, and 401st armored brigades of the Israeli army, plus a total of 4,000 special operations units, in addition to tanks and armored vehicles, under the cover of artillery and air force, in the face of such a crushing situation, the Israeli army could not even penetrate!
The Israeli army fired 8,000 shells a day, blowing the village into rubble, but Allah used buildings and tunnels to swim in on motorcycles, rifles and rocket launchers to resist, killing and wounding more than 30 Israeli troops, and the Israeli army fought for 10 days and still did not control the village.
This example made Allah realize that its tactics could effectively restrain the Israeli army's firepower and equipment superiority in densely built areas, so the Israeli army's nightmare came.
In the small town of Bint Jubail on the Lebanese border, Israel dispatched elite troops, including the 1st Infantry Brigade and the 35th Paratrooper Brigade, totaling more than 5,000 people, in an attempt to occupy this important border town. Allah's defenders numbered about 40 and about 100 militiamen.
Bint Jubail Town.
As a result, before the Israeli 1st Infantry Brigade could enter the town, it was ambushed in the outer woods, and a platoon of 26 men was knocked down 25. As a result, the Israeli army, which had learned the lesson of Maru Ras, no longer dared to rush hard, but just bombed the town desperately.
Fallen soldiers in ambush battle in the woods.
This bombing, that is, 19 days, 87% of the town's buildings were in ruins, 76 civilians died, another 32 Allah soldiers were killed (mainly from the bombing), and the real exchange of fire with Israel brought very few **, only a dozen people. However, they killed 17 Israelis and injured nearly 100, and in the end, Israel failed to capture the town.
This is a major victory for the Lebanese Allah Party, they only used one platoon of troops, they pinned down the four main brigades of the Israeli regular army, and held the town in the case of disparity in numbers and firepower, and also played a ** exchange ratio of more than 1:7, which is the first time since the Middle East countries fought with Israel, and the Lebanese Allah Party became famous in a war.
Allah shows the loot.
Seeing that Israel could not take the town, it wanted to bypass the town and attack in depth, but when passing through the valley of Wadi Saruki, there was no reconnaissance and no control of the high ground, and as a result, it was ambushed by Allah, and 11 of the 24 merkavas were hit, and they fled in disarray.
These battles largely undermined Israel's confidence in reoccupying southern Lebanon, and it did not take long for Israel to announce its withdrawal. Since then, Israel has basically never dared to provoke Allah again.
Today, after more than ten years of development, Allah's strength is not what it used to be, and now it has more than 150,000 rockets, about ten times that of Hamas, and unlike Hamas's hand-rubbed nitrate rockets, there are many models, there are "volcanoes" Heavy rockets, including the Fajr-5 rocket with a range of 75 kilometers and the Zelzal-2 long-range rocket with a range of up to 210 kilometers, and even the Fateh-110 missile equipped with GPS guidance and a 500 kg warhead, are enough to accurately hit Israel's strategic targets, such as air bases, military factories, seaports, power plants, and even ** organs, etc., causing damage that is not comparable to Hamas.
Falaq-2 rocket.
What's more, Allah also has the Iranian version of the C802 anti-ship missile, as well as the latest "Haoshi" and "Ruby" supersonic anti-ship missiles provided by Russia, and the deterrent capability is very powerful.
In the face of Lebanon, which has caused a psychological shadow on itself, how dare Israel open up a second battlefield without cleaning up Hamas?
Israel's attack on Lebanon this time will most likely only carry out air strikes in retaliation, or surprise attacks by small ground forces, rather than a large-scale operation like the invasion of Gaza.
