During the Anti-Japanese War, I was 11 years old, and my family lived in Liuhe Back Street, where I was studying at Confucius Temple Primary School. In December 1937, the Japanese arrived in Nanjing. My father practiced medicine in Hai'an, and my mother took me and my two older sisters and one sister to run back. After the fall of Nanjing, Fuxiao announced its disbandment, and the atmosphere was bleak. I was in fifth grade at the time, and when I got to the class, the students were all sitting neatly and silently. The head teacher, surnamed Yao, was very excited: "The Japanese devil is here, and the school can't run a ......."Today is the last class. He suddenly shouted: "Down with Japanese imperialism!"The students shouted, and everyone was very excited, and then the school was dissolved, and we were all in pain. When I got home, my family was packing a change of clothes, money, and jewelry. Each child carried a bag on his back. I said, "I still have classmates, I want to visit the school." "At that time, the school was even more bleak, the doors and windows were not closed, and the wind was blowing. There is an air-raid shelter between the Dacheng Hall and the Ming Hall, and the wood is paved on it. After my classmate Li Yongxing and I entered, we ran to the air-raid shelter and arrived at the Dacheng Hall (Confucius tablet), where the wind blew paper and flew all over the sky.

Later, my family ran away from the countryside, led a donkey, ran to Chengqiao, first to a relative's house, and then to the northwest direction, to Zhang Wuyin's house in Zhuzhen, where several families lived together, including the family of Zhu Guangzhong, a famous doctor in Nanjing at that time, and the Chen family. It didn't take long for bandits to take advantage of the opportunity. We live in the grain warehouse of the Zhang family, who is a large landowner in Zhuzhen. When the bandits robbed him, the fire burned badly, and some smashed the wall. Young people in their twenties have guns, and we see that the momentum is not right, and they run again. Later, he lived in Xiaojiajian. My father hasn't come back yet, and the money is not enough, so my little sister is just weaned and is more than 1 year old. My family has no land in the countryside. I saw a cattle herder surnamed Gao there, who was a Cantonese man. He was a Cantonese soldier. At that time, when the Japanese entered Nanjing, he hid in the 12 holes along the river, and many soldiers also hid there, and the Japanese machine guns fired at the holes. "Little Guangdong" lay on the ground and covered his body with a corpse, but he didn't hit it.

Later, the Japanese entered the hole and stabbed them with bayonets, but they didn't hit the vital point, so they held the broken boat board and floated to Jiuligan. took the begging and fled for his life, and ran to Bamboo Town to graze cattle. When I ran back, I didn't dare to go into the city, and I only heard that the devils in the city were killing people. Sometimes the common people were lined up on the Wangjiatian, and the living people were used as targets and stabbed with bayonets.

On April 27, 1938, Japanese planes bombed. At that time, three floors of the Wangjia Pot Shop in the back street of Changjiang Road were blown up. At that time, I was still in Chengqiao, and planes sometimes arrived in Chengqiao. At the time, I didn't understand much, it was like the plane was always staring at me. My brother-in-law took me to hide in the haystack, and the farmer ran away when he saw the plane, only to be shot at him. Some people are miserable, and their intestines are beaten out. On 27 April, Liuhe, Zhuzhen, and Chengqiao were bombed, not in the whole street, but in one place, which had a deterrent effect. By 1938, my family had nothing to live on**, and my father had returned, so the family decided to go back. I heard that there is a maintenance society in the city, so you can enter the city. When I entered the city, I was very scared, and when I arrived at the city gate, I bought a little flyer made of white cloth, which was a certificate of good citizenship, with a seal, and pinned on my body. When you enter the city, you have to bow, or you will be slapped in the face or even pointed a bayonet at you.

The days of becoming slaves of the country are very uncomfortable. When I got home, I saw that the door panels were all broken, the house was full of moss, horse manure, and all the boxes were taken away. Children are nothing, and adults feel that they can't get by. We don't dare to go out, the Japanese are terrible. Once, I went to the street to buy ** crisp, and when I went back, the Japanese suddenly declared martial law, I don't understand. The Japanese pointed their bayonets at me at once, and I was scared away. The Japanese hit me in the mouth and knocked me to the ground as if they were going to kill me. After a few curses, the Japanese withdrew the bayonet, and I was relieved. When I got home, I didn't mention it, I didn't cry, and I felt very wronged.

The Japanese often go to the countryside, which is called "Qingxiang". They arrested people and caught the garrison (now in the six-in-one), and after entering, the people were gone. Once, when I was in junior high school, my family lived on Changjiang Road, and the back led to Wangjiatian, and when I got up in the morning, I opened the back door and found a person sitting on the peach tree, so I asked who it was, and he waved his hand and said, "I escaped from the garrison." "I asked him if he was the New Fourth Army, and he said no. I asked him what his last name was, and he said his surname was Chen. Then I told him to stay on top and bring him food at noon, ready to save him. In the evening, when it was dark, Fan Xuehai and I (my father's apprentice) took a rope and used it to drop him off the city wall.

At that time, the Japanese were very murderousAfter liberation, I dug a pit in the playground in the six-in-one, and dug a string of hands, not to mention 20. Later, in the process, I heard that there was a small village at the north gate, called a tea hermitage. It is said that a father and daughter were acrobatic and tricksters, and they lived there temporarily. Once, when the devil swept and saw the girl, he chased after him, but the old man took advantage of the devil's inattention and beat him to death with a wooden stick, and the father and daughter buried him. When the Japanese noticed that there were fewer people, they looked around. The father and daughter ran away overnight. Later, the Japanese came a second time, presumably with bad people inside, and took them to the house of the father and daughter, but the father and daughter had already run away and burned their house. On another occasion, martial law was imposed. It is said that the New Fourth Army attacked the city and entered the city through the south gate, but the time was not right with the north gate. Before the north gate came in, the Japanese closed the south gate and arrested the New Fourth Army. The New Fourth Army went from the south gate to a small building in the teahouse, jumped from the city tower to the house at once, and then jumped into the water and fled. The news spread so much.

At that time, the situation was the same in Liuhe, and the food to eat was getting more and more expensive. Later, I went to study at the High School Attached to the Pseudo-Zhongda University, and it was very hard to study at the pseudo-Zhongda University and eat moldy rice. The devil also forced him to learn Japanese, and when the Japanese devil came to class, we ignored him. When it came time for the exam, the dean of instruction, surnamed Xu, cheated with the students. When he prints the test papers, he tells the students the questions, but don't get them all right. As a result, the average score is above 90, which we call "fools". There was also a farce, Zhou Fohai took control of the tobacco house in Nanjing, Lin Baisheng wanted to ban smoking, and the students went to the Confucius Temple to smash the smoking utensils, and later graduated, they could go straight to CUHK. None of us want to graduate because we are not willing to work for Japanese people after graduation. We all want to resist Japan, and we think that the Kuomintang and the Communist Party will fight devils. Teacher Xu took the students to Dabie Mountain, Yuan Mu and Xia Jun also went, as well as me, Shi Zijun, and Yao Douming. Running 100 miles a day, I was very excited to see the slogan: "An inch of rivers and mountains, an inch of blood, 100,000 young people and 100,000 soldiers." When I arrived in Liuhe, I read the newspaper: "Xu Zhongtao, a pseudo-CUHK professor, was detained for distinguishing between the false and the true." So, I went to Lihuang County, 25 miles away from Jinzhai, and when I arrived in Jinzhai, the teacher had already left. Yuan Mu and they came back from the Henan boundary road, and it didn't take long for the devils to surrender, and we saw the sharpness of the contradictions between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. Some people say that there are many unjust souls at the foot of Dabie Mountain, and many young people in the occupied areas are suspected of being the CCP and have been killed. After the victory, we went to the temporary university to study for a year, and then adjusted the distribution. When the Japanese were there, our anti-Japanese sentiment was very high, and we didn't know that there was a New Fourth Army there. The Guangxi Army of the Kuomintang Li Pinren was a soldier during the day and a bandit at night.

Chinese civilians who were brutally murdered by devils.
