The Shang Dynasty (c. 1600 BC – 1046 BC) was the first dynasty in China with direct written records of the same period, which lasted for about 500 years.
Around 1600 BC, Shang Tang, the leader of the Shang tribe, defeated the Xia Dynasty army in the Battle of Mingtiao and established the Shang Dynasty, with the capital of Bo (now Shangqiu, Henan).
The Later Shang Dynasty moved its capital frequently, and it was not until it moved its capital to Yin (now Anyang, Henan) that it stabilized and reached 273 years, which is also the reason why later generations called the Shang Dynasty "Yin Shang".
During the Shang Dynasty, the initial system of succession to the throne was that the elder brother passed on the throne to the younger brother.
In the later period, it was a typical succession system for the father and the son, so the throne of the Shang Dynasty was inherited by the younger brother and the princeThere are sons of brothers, sons of brothers, and sons of sisters-in-law.
During the period of King Wuding of Shang, the Shang Dynasty was the most prosperous, but in later generations, the prosperity did not continue, especially during the period of Emperor Yi and Emperor Xin (King of Shang), the Shang Dynasty built a large number of buildings, paid serious taxes, and implemented strict punishment laws, resulting in very acute domestic contradictions.
About 1046 B.C., King Wu of Zhou united a number of tribes, marched into the court, after the battle of Muye, Yin Shang was defeated, Shang King ** in Lutai, the Shang Dynasty that survived for about 500 years perished, and history entered the Western Zhou Dynasty.
