Li Haipeng, born in March 1990 in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, holds a doctorate in literature from Chinese People's University. He is currently an assistant researcher at the Research Center for New Chinese Literature at Nanjing University. He has won the first prize of the "Unnamed Poetry Award", the "Guanghua Poetry Award", the "Cherry Blossom Poetry Competition", the "Poetry East and West (DJS) Young Poet Award", and the "Top Ten Young Poets of Jiangsu Province".
DIY Study Class: Delivering the Light of New Poetry
At Nanjing University, there is such a "DIY study course" that relies on the platform of Yue Reading Club and is jointly prepared and designed by teachers and students, which has been widely praised since its opening in 2016, and students generally believe that it is "full of autonomy, academics, integration and innovation." ”
The most important feature of the DIY study course is the "two-way choice" between teachers and studentsThe same is true of Mr. Li Haipeng's "Selected Readings of Chinese and Western Poetic Literature and Poetry Texts". After his initial exposure to new poetry in the modern and contemporary literature class, some students took the initiative to find him, hoping to open a related course to improve their understanding of new poetry through close reading of textsIn this way, Mr. Li Haipeng also hopes to let students get in touch with more Chinese and Western poetry texts, and gradually explore the research methods of new poetry in the process of understanding and discussing the corresponding poetic theories and academic issues—so this course came into being.
In terms of curriculum setting, Mr. Li Haipeng regards the content of his weekly lectures as a small lecture with a relatively independent theme, and polishes the quality of the course to the highest level through adequate preparation. Each class has its own brilliance, and these precious memory fragments constitute a rich DIY course. The form of the course, which is free from the shackles of "prescribed actions", is free and flexible: teacher-led lectures, student reports, teacher-student discussions, poetry mutual evaluation, ......Compared with the core class of literary history that can accommodate 50 or 60 students, the small class teaching mode of DIY courses can undoubtedly increase the interaction between the classroom and shorten the distance between teachers and students. As Zhang Yuanfeng said, "The transmission of poetry requires the joint efforts of the interpreter and the listener".In the sincere dialogue and **, everyone gradually built a new poetry kingdom in their minds, and also had a more transparent perception of the world around them through language. At the end of the course, Mr. Li Haipeng compiled everyone's creative achievements into a portfolio.
Great plays are still being played, and you can dedicate a poem.

Ten lessons, 37 literatures, and 42 self-composed poems not only brought about the growth of knowledge, but also helped the classroom verify its maximum population capacity - from the more than 20 people in the row of seats at the beginning of the semester, to the continuous arrival of graduate students who gradually moved more chairs, to the warm applause at the lecture of the Poetry Festival of the Faculty of Letters, Mr. Li Haipeng told us with his teaching that the DIY study class should be like this, or in other words, the university classroom should be like this. At the end of the course, Li Ziming, a 2021 undergraduate student of the Faculty of Arts, wrote down his thoughts. The course has ended, but the perception is still continuing and sublimating, and the fire ignited in the heart will not be extinguished.

"Top Ten Young Poets of Jiangsu": Enter the world of new poetry
In addition to being a researcher of new poetry, Mr. Li Haipeng is also a creator of new poetry. His interest in new poetry sprouted at the undergraduate level, and before that, he focused more on classical poetry. The change of interest is inseparable from the influence of the New Poetry Club on campus. "It just so happened that the president of the poetry club lived opposite me, and he introduced new poetry early, took me to understand various creative genres, and participated in the activities of poetry clubs in major universities, and slowly I 'entered the pit'. Teacher Li Haipeng recalled with a smile.
When talking about the "relationship between new poetry and traditional poetry", he frankly said that the two are closely related and have a dialogue with each other. In his eyes, the creation of new poetry is not a whimsical and one-time achievement, and the importance of knowledge reserves and cultural traditions cannot be ignored. For him, it is the legend of the Ming and Qing dynasties that brings him the most thinking and inspiration.
In a chat with the poet Zhu Zhu, Zhu Zhu's sentence "How difficult it is to write poetry" resonated deeply with Mr. Li Haipeng. Mr. Li Haipeng believes that the creation of new poems is a challenge. When he creates, he always starts from feelings and experiences, and remains awake in order to flexibly mobilize his senses"Confronting the Difficulties of Writing".。He doesn't agree with most people's romantic imagination of poetry, and in his philosophy, inspiration is only the beginning of creation, even if it's just a short poem, and he wants to put in the same amount of work as writing a short story**.
In the history of modern and contemporary literature, the concept of "new poetry" has always been associated with ideological enlightenment. And for Mr. Li Haipeng,Poetry creation is first and foremost an enlightenment and reflection on oneself。He believes that his relationship with New Poetry is open and benign, and that poetry encapsulates his experience and understanding of the world, and at the same time brings him closer to the world.

Multiple Domains: Research, Creation and Translation complement each other
His interest in new poetry became an opportunity for Mr. Li Haipeng to embark on an academic path. After being exposed to new poetry, he absorbed new knowledge like a sponge, and lingered among the classic Chinese and Western poetry texts. Hug"Use the time spent in graduate school to read more."He was admitted to the graduate school of his favorite mentor, and under the guidance of the master's supervisor, he came into contact with a broader field of poetics. In the process, he discovered his potential in academic research and explored this path.
There are always setbacks and challenges on the way to exploration. "Sometimes in order to better devote myself to research, I need to temporarily give up some 'worldly pleasures', which is a test of willpower for me. Teacher Li Haipeng said frankly with a smile.
The researcher and the creator attach great importance to each other, which brings a unique experience to Mr. Li Haipeng. The in-depth academic research has enabled him to have a more thorough grasp and deeper reflection on the development of new poetry and its inner thoughtsThe gradual enrichment of his theoretical reserves also made him more open and calm when he put pen to paper. Reading and composing new poems is also a way to cultivate the sensibility of texts, and in the process, he often makes "unintentional willows" academic discoveries.
In addition, Mr. Li Haipeng has also tried to translate foreign poetry. In his view, translation, creation, and research are mutually reinforcing. He says that he would also like to try his hand at creating if possible in the future – he doesn't set boundaries for himself, he just wants to explore more.
Inside and outside the classroom: a good teacher, but also a good friend
Out of his love for Nanjing's unique urban temperament and his admiration for NTU's rigorous, down-to-earth, upright and innovative academic style, Mr. Li Haipeng finally chose to teach at this top 100 school. Although he was mainly based on the Xianlin Campus, he decided to live in the teacher's apartment on the Gulou Campus. In addition to being able to experience the fireworks of the city center and the history of the old campus, it also makes cross-campus commuting an important part of his daily life. This "joy of displacement" brings him a unique sense of experience, and often gives him a different kind of inspiration and insight.
As a young teacher, what he enjoys most is spending time with his classmates inside and outside the classroom. When he first joined the company, he also faced the anxiety that many young teachers could not avoid, worried that the content of the class was not substantial, so he always worked lesson preparation. After a period of tempering, teaching has gradually become the interest and pursuit of Mr. Li Haipeng. The DIY course launched last semester received full marks from his classmates, which made him very encouraged, and he hopes that he can do his best to become a better teacher in the future.
Tong Yiwen, a student who has attended "Selected Readings of Chinese and Western Poetic Literature and Poetry Texts", commented on Mr. Li Haipeng: "He infected the class with a youthful aura, expressed pertinent views in a humorous way, sharp but not extreme, gentle but insightful, which resonated a lot with me." In the eyes of his classmates, this young teacher with a Northeast accent is amiable, humorous, and trustworthy. On the green field, sweat together, and chat ...... in groups after classThis is a common way for Mr. Li Haipeng to interact with his classmates outside the classroom. To his classmates, he is not only a good teacher, but also a good friend.
When asked about his suggestions for undergraduates to learn Xi new poems, Mr. Li Haipeng provided a book list:
Walter Benjamin: The Lyric Poet in the Age of Advanced Capitalism: On Baudelaire, translated by Zhang Xudong and Wei Wensheng.
Hugo Friedrich: The Structure of Modern Poetry, translated by Li Shuangzhi.
Harold Bloom et al., The Art of Reading Poetry, translated by Wang Ao.
Neil MacGregor: Shakespeare's Turbulent World, translated by Fan Hao.
Wang Zuoliang: "The Realm of English Poetry".
Jiang Tao: "New Poetry Collection" and the Occurrence of Chinese New Poetry
Wu Xiaodong: "The Grace of the Water: The Artistic Motif of Chinese Modernist Poetry".
Zhang Jieyu: The Awakened Man and His Lamp: A Close Reading and Study of Lu Xun's Wild Grass
Duan Congxue: "Mu Dan's Spiritual Structure and the Problem of Modernity."
Liu He, ed.: "The Messenger with the Lamp".
In the end, he concluded, "Undergraduates should start by reading the works, first establish a preliminary perceptual understanding, and then talk about academic issues." I am opposed to 'sprouting seedlings'Because academic research is definitely not a sprint, but a long-distance run。As with other creative professions, interest is paramount when it comes to academic fields of study. ”
Creators, researchers, translators, ......Multiple identities allow Mr. Li Haipeng to explore the world of new poetry more freely and dance with it. He discovers light, seeks light, and eventually transmits light.
