Quark, a subsidiary of Alibaba's intelligent information business group, launched its first large-scale model application.
On December 25, Quark APP announced the launch of the health model application "Quark Health Assistant", and launched a new content interaction method in some search results and functional sections. In the test, Observer.com found that users only need to enter relevant content in the health field in the search box on Quark's homepage, and "Quark Health Assistant" will automatically pop up.
It is reported that Quark Health Assistant also has an independent function page that supports users to conduct multiple rounds of questions and conversations on health issues.
In the actual test, under certain problems, the "Quark Health Assistant" will provide intelligent screening functions and add large model capabilities. Users can check the supplementary symptom information to achieve more accurate and fast search. According to public information, in response to new search content forms such as AIGC (generative artificial intelligence), Quark has also established a quark health expert group to build a large model content ecology with experts from top public tertiary hospitals in the country.

It is worth mentioning that Quark is not the only player in the field of large-scale medical healthcare.
For example, in September this year, Tencent Health announced a large medical model, and newly released a multi-scenario AI product matrix such as intelligent Q&A, family doctor assistant, and digital intelligent medical imaging platform. Wu Wenda, President of Tencent Health, said that the digital and intelligent upgrade of healthcare has changed from "first and first trial" to "full embrace", and the application of artificial intelligence and various digital intelligence tools will accelerate the popularization.
According to Zhejiang** statistics, from February to September this year alone, nearly 50 medical models have been released in China, some of which are based on general models of Alibaba, Tencent, Huawei and other large manufacturers, and some focus on all stages of medical research, drug research and development, and smart diagnosis and treatment, and even for medical equipment operation and maintenance, hospital management and other fields, updated in hours.
In September this year, the "Technical Requirements for the Application of Large Models in the Medical and Health Industry" was released, which was led by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and jointly researched and drafted by the Medical Service Guidance and Management Center of the National Health Commission, as well as a number of hospitals and technology companies. With the continuous optimization of the industry environment, more players are bound to pour into this vertical track.
However, unlike some large medical and health models, the purpose of "Quark Health Assistant" may be to improve its own search ability.
Shen Yang, a professor at Tsinghua University's School of Journalism, once said that an important measure for large models to reduce the error rate is to collaborate with search engines.
From the demand side, querying health information through search platforms is one of the high-frequency needs of Internet users. The traditional search box has problems such as unclear expression and difficulty in information comprehension, which provides a stage for the application of large models and various digital intelligence toolsFrom the perspective of the supply side, the medical and health field gathers a large amount of professional information, and "screening" and other links are also prone to feedback, which may also be an ideal "testing ground" to improve the ability of large models.
According to the observer's previous understanding, Alibaba's intelligent information business group's investment in quark large model capabilities is mainly aimed at comprehensively upgrading quarks with the help of large model capabilities and improving users' experience in learning, work and life. From this point of view, in a short period of time, the quark large model does not have a clear commercialization purpose or index, and will not have a direct competition with other large models.
The launch of "Quark Health Assistant" is also basically in line with the rhythm of the quark large model after it has passed the filing.
Quark belongs to Alibaba's intelligent information business group. In mid-November this year, the business deployed a full-stack self-developed quark model with 100 billion parameters. "The quark model is an application-oriented model for search, productivity tools, and asset management assistants," and according to its positioning, "it will continue to upgrade content products and intelligent tools in the fields of general knowledge, health, and creation."
It should be noted that the performance of the "Quark Health Assistant" needs to be observed in a longer time dimension. At the same time, while China's big models are becoming more health-savvy, perhaps as the "assistant" is concerned, people should still ask doctors and other professionals for advice on more specialized issues.
