Recently, when the customs of Xiamen Cruise Port supervised a cross-border e-commerce export package declared as an "ornament", it was found that the batch of "ornaments" was actually a "stone" with a delicate pattern. According to the appraisal of professional institutions, 19 of the "stones" are early Paleozoic trilobite fossils, 3 are Cambrian jellyfish fossils, 3 are late Paleozoic ammonite fossils, and 3 are Cretaceous ammonite fossils.
According to the Regulations on the Protection of Paleontological Fossils, those who transport, mail or carry paleontological fossils out of the country shall truthfully declare to the customs and submit to the customs the exit approval documents of the competent department of natural resources or the competent department of natural resources of the people, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government. Units or individuals who transport, mail or carry paleontological fossils out of the country without obtaining approval shall be dealt with by the Customs in accordance with the provisions of relevant laws and administrative regulationswhere a crime is constituted, criminal responsibility is pursued in accordance with law. It has been temporarily detained in accordance with regulations and is pending further processing.
