The second tunnel of Qingdao Jiaozhou Bay connects the main urban area of Qingdao and the Qingdao West Coast New Area, a state-level new area, with a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The total length of the project is 1748 km, of which the main line tunnel is 1437 km, including up to 995 km of sea area. The shield machine will be excavated from Qingdao Port Wharf to the west coast, and will be docked with the tunnel of the drilling and blasting section, and the shield machine will be received and dismantled in the submarine cavern.
After the opening of the tunnel, Qingdao will enter the "double tunnel era", which is of great significance to alleviate the cross-bay traffic pressure, promote the integrated development of Jiaozhou Bay, build a global marine center city, and build a bridgehead for opening up.
