Beijing News (Reporter Zhang Jianlin) On December 27, the reporter learned from the China Geological Survey of the Ministry of Natural Resources that China's first ocean drilling ship "Dream" met or exceeded the design requirements for the first time in sea trial, and the sea trial was a complete success.
The trial voyage was launched in Nansha, Guangzhou on December 18, "Dream" relied on its own power to leave the wharf, with a total voyage of about 500 nautical miles, a total of more than 200 engineering and technical personnel and management personnel participated, through the individual and joint commissioning of various systems under navigation conditions, successfully completed the commissioning of 19 key marine systems such as ship power station, propulsion system, communication and navigation, life-saving anchorage, etc., and completed the navigation test and international certification related projects as planned. The analysis of hull inspection and trial data shows that the main power and other marine systems have been verified, and the performance and various indicators meet or exceed the design requirements.

The "Dream" has a total weight of about 33,000 tons and a total length of 1798 meters, endurance of 15,000 nautical miles, with the operation capacity of the global sea area unlimited navigation area and the drilling capacity of 11,000 meters in the sea area, organized and built by the China Geological Survey of the Ministry of Natural Resources, China Shipbuilding Group undertakes the design and construction tasks, more than 150 participating units closely cooperated, officially started on November 30, 2021, the main hull of the ship was completed on December 18, 2022, officially named and launched on December 18, 2023, and is expected to be fully completed in 2024.
It is reported that the ship has completed a number of international first designs, and after completion, it will provide important equipment support for the industrialization of natural gas hydrate exploration and exploitation, further improve China's energy independence guarantee capability, strongly support China's implementation of the international big science plan for ocean drilling, and enhance the ability of "deep-sea entry, deep-sea exploration and deep-sea development".
