A review of the 2023 ordinary commemorative coin gold and silver coin collection, the market perform

2023 is coming to an end, and looking back on this year, the collection market for gold and silver commemorative coins and ordinary commemorative coins has shown a complex and changeable situation. During the year, although I participated in many gold and silver commemorative coin lottery appointments, most of the varieties were not obtained, and even fewer were selected.

Among the participating varieties, I was fortunate enough to receive a 15-gram colored silver coin for the 2023 Year of the Rabbit Gold and Silver Commemorative Coin and a 150-gram silver coin for the 2023 Chinese Calligraphy Art Cursive Gold and Silver Commemorative Coins. These two silver coins have become the highlights of my collection this year, and they have also allowed me to maintain a certain enthusiasm for collecting gold and silver commemorative coins. At the same time, I also have two small silver coins, the 70th Anniversary 15 gram silver coin issued in 2018 and the auspicious cultural gold and silver commemorative coin Bamboo Newspaper Ping An 15 gram silver coin issued in 2021.

However, the overall situation for this year's gold and silver commemorative coins is not ideal. The majority of collectors should be well aware that the market performance of most varieties is disappointing, and the breakage rate is even more amazing, exceeding 90%. This phenomenon may indicate that the gold and silver commemorative coin market is undergoing a deep adjustment and needs to be re-examined and repositioned.

I didn't miss a single opportunity to make a reservation for a regular commemorative coin. In 2023, China will issue a number of ordinary commemorative coins, including ordinary commemorative coins for the Year of the Rabbit, Huangshan commemorative coins, Emeishan commemorative coins, ordinary commemorative coins for Sanjiangyuan National Park, ordinary commemorative coins for Giant Panda National Park, and ordinary commemorative coins for Chinese Peking Opera art. The number of commemorative coins issued reached a record high, with a total of six coins issued.

However, among these ordinary commemorative coins, there are many varieties that hover in the ** range below the face value. Huangshan commemorative coins, Emeishan commemorative coins, ordinary commemorative coins of Sanjiangyuan National Park and ordinary commemorative coins of Giant Panda National Park are basically equivalent to the face value at present. The market performance of the Huangshan commemorative coins and Emeishan commemorative coins, which were originally pinned on high hopes, is surprising after their issuance. It was expected that they would be as sought after as the Taishan and Wuyi Mountain commemorative coins, but the results were a big disappointment. Shortly after their release, they were significantly larger, even returning to par levels in less than a week. This undoubtedly sounded the alarm for the majority of collectors, and also verified the saying: the greater the hope, the greater the disappointment.

Here, I would like to share my collecting experience with collectors. At the same time, I also wish everyone more happiness and satisfaction in the upcoming New Year's Day 2024. In this world of collecting full of challenges and opportunities, let us look forward to more surprises and harvests in the new year.
