Hello friends, I am Qing Yinyang. Let's spend ten minutes a day studying the Analects together. This classic is a condensation of Confucius's thoughts, and I hope that we can find our own path in life through the study of this classic Xi and help the healthy development of life.
Lin Fang's greeting is the foundation of the ceremony. Zi said: "Dazai asked!."Etiquette, rather than luxury, rather simple;Mourning, with its easy, rather relative. ”
Lin Fang asked Confucius what the root of etiquette was, and Confucius replied, "You really have a big question!"For ordinary etiquette and luxury, it is better to keep it simple. As for the funeral, it is better to be sad than a comprehensive ceremony.
Lin Fang's life and background are impossible to investigate, only that he is a native of Lu. He asked Confucius what was the root of "rites"?Confucius told him that the problem was too big. From this place, we should realize that the "rites" mentioned by Confucius are not ordinary etiquette and etiquette. It is not Xunzi's discussion of rites that we quoted, and "rites" actually have metaphysical aspects. Asking Confucius this question is equivalent to asking Lao Tzu what is TaoIt's too big to ask questions. However, Confucius also gave two words from the role of etiquette: "Jian" and "Qi". Confucius believed that if there is anything that is closest to etiquette, it must be these two words.
Earlier, we mentioned Xunzi's exposition on etiquette, which believes that the role of etiquette is to regulate people's desires, so that the whole country advocates morality. From Xunzi's exposition, it can be seen that the role of etiquette is to regulate people's desires on the one hand, and to facilitate us to improve our moral cultivation after controlling desires, which is also the foundation of the role of etiquette. When Taoists and Buddhists talk about spiritual practice, they also ask us to first get rid of the desires in our hearts. From this, we can know that the three schools of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism all believe that desire is the biggest obstacle to the development of our nature, so if we want to have a higher self-cultivation, we must first learn to regulate our desires. At this point, the ultimate role of the rite comes out. But we must be clear that this is only the fundamental role of etiquette, not the fundamental function of etiquette.
Therefore, Confucius said that we should try to be as simple as possible for ordinary rituals, not to be extravagant and wasteful because of some mundane rituals, and to have a heart of comparison. This is contrary to the fundamental role of propriety in regulating human desires. For funerals, it should not be simplified, but don't pursue too much comprehensiveness, the sorrow in your heart is far more important than the thoughtfulness of etiquette. Why can't funerals be simplified compared to ordinary rites? This has to do with our ancient culture. Our concept today is that as long as we do a good job in children's ideological education from an early age, society can reduce negative energy. The ancients thought that it was too late to start with children, and it was necessary to do a good job in the care and funeral of the elderly, so that they would have no resentment in their hearts when they left. When you come to this earth again, you can have a healthy mind, and in this way, you can purify the social environment.
Whether everyone agrees with the views of the ancients is a matter of wisdom. But I found that people's Xi is really hard to change, and many people say "it's natural!"."That's true. Many people are born with a basic set of temperament, and the acquired ordinary Xi can only help him disguise the original evil in human nature, and it really takes a lot of effort to change the Xi brought by nature. So when Confucius decided to take the road of educating human nature, Lao Tzu told him that this road was difficult and difficult!Today, some people always scold Confucianism as hypocrites, and then scold Confucius by the way. I feel sorry for Confucius. Those who make a fortune as officials in the name of Confucianism are not true Confucians, but are just villains in the skin of Confucianism. Shouldn't we be grateful to Confucius, a person who "knows what is impossible" and also shows a clear path for mankind?
When we study Xi scriptures, we should first correct the recitation, and then slowly seek the true meaning of them. We're here today, thank you friends, and see you tomorrow.
