Recently, I saw a passage from a professor at Peking University:"In the eyes of many people, enduring hardship is hard work, enduring hardship is staying up late, and enduring hardship is not afraid of tiredness, in fact, this concept is one-sided. The real hardship is not necessarily the physical exertion of the muscles and bones and the starvation of the body and skin, but the super self-discipline and the ability to think independently, as well as the courage to discard all the things that make you comfortable and happy for a short time, and focus your time and energy on what you want to do. "
So, what kind of suffering do people have to endure?
In my case, there is only one criterion for enduring hardship, that is, to endure the hardship of active choice, and to choose according to the goal of life.
For example, my goal in life is to be a good writer, a qualified multilingual translator, a freelancer who lives everywhere, and a runner who is physically fit and mentally strong.
So I only suffer 4 kinds of suffering now.
1.Suffer from thinking.
It's really comfortable not to think, but the brain will really deteriorate if you don't use it, and people will become clumsy and numb over time. Thinking is hard, but I will keep it up, keep gnawing on the tome of books and literature, retain the ability to read deeply, maintain the output of 1000 words a day, and retain clear and fluent logic.
2.Suffer from independence.
It's comfortable to go with the flow, and it's also comfortable to rely on others, but there is the possibility of being abandoned at any time. I often tell myself that only by being financially independent, independent in thought, independent in personality, and not dependent on anyone can I have a sense of security that will not be taken away.
3.Suffer from restraint.
Human nature is greed and laziness, proper restraint is very necessary, restraint diet, restraint staying up late, restraint of short**, restraint of hurtful words, restraint of extreme emotions. Long-term restraint will bring about a transformation from the inside out, life is simple, the magnetic field is clean, the eyes are bright, and the temperament is calm.
4.Suffer from exercise.
This is my sixth year of running, and to be honest, it's really painful to get up early and run early, but once you experience that feeling of pushing your limits, you're addicted. Running brings all runners a gift of confidence. I really don't think there's anything I can't get over.
