Sandstone is a sedimentary rock that is formed from quartz grains and has a very stable structure. It is usually light brown and red, and the main components include silicon, calcium, clay and iron oxide. As an eco-friendly stone, sandstone products have the characteristics of no pollution, no radiation, no reflection, no weathering, no discoloration, heat absorption, heat preservation and anti-slip.
The main sandstones mined and utilized in the world include Australian sandstone, Indian sandstone, Spanish sandstone and Chinese sandstone. As one of the major sandstone producing areas, China has abundant sandstone mineral resources. Due to China's vast territory and complex geological environment, there are many varieties of sandstone in China, and there are more than 1,000 mining areas in Sichuan Province alone. China's sandstone is mainly concentrated in Sichuan, Yunnan and Shandong, which are the three main producing areas of China's sandstone. At the same time, Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi and other places also have sandstone output, but the popularity is low and the influence is small.
1. Sichuan sandstone. Sichuan sandstone is a mudstone with fine grains and soft texture, which is very suitable as a building decoration material, especially for carving. Due to the complex geographical and geological conditions of Sichuan, the sandstone varieties in this place are very rich. The color of Sichuan sandstone can be said to be the most abundant in China, including red, green, gray, white, black, purple, yellow, cyan, etc., there are many types. However, due to its relatively soft material, inconvenient transportation, and relatively backward mining methods in the mining area, Sichuan sandstone can basically only provide slats, and cannot provide large slabs of more than 1 meter. However, in the case of small quantities, the mine may use a disc saw to turn over a small amount, but it is more expensive due to the higher breakage rate. However, there is also a type of sandstone in Sichuan that is said to be as hard as granite, and some of these sandstones are hard and can be fire-processed.
2. Yunnan sandstone. Yunnan sandstone is a mud sandstone like Sichuan sandstone, with fine grains and soft texture. However, due to the different geological and geographical environments of the formation, Yunnan sandstone has unique texture and style characteristics, and the color is also very rich. Common Yunnan sandstones include yellow wood grain sandstone, landscape pattern sandstone, red sandstone, yellow sandstone, white sandstone, and green sandstone. Due to the early start of the sandstone industry in Yunnan, the mining and processing technology is relatively high, and it can provide large slabs of more than 1 meter. However, due to the soft texture of mudstone, its application is limited to a certain extent, and it is generally dominated by gauge plates.
3. Shandong sandstoneShandong sandstone belongs to sea sandstone, with coarse particle structure and greater hardness, but relatively brittle. Shandong sandstone can basically be cut into 1Large slabs of more than 2 meters, some can even be used as countertops, and there are many Shandong sandstones that can be made into thin slabs of 1 cm. Due to its sufficient hardness, almost all surface finishes can be carried out. Shandong sandstone has relatively few colors, mainly red, yellow, green, purple, brown and white. However, Shandong sandstone is basically textured, except for white sandstone and purple sandstone, these two sandstones are not all pure color, white sandstone has dark lines, and purple sandstone has white spots.
In addition, the sandstone of Henan and Hebei is similar to the sandstone of Shandong, which also belongs to the sea sandstone, with coarse grains and high hardness, but less color, and is dominated by wood-grain sandstone.
