Meter-gauge railway refers to a narrow-gauge railway with a gauge of 1 meter, which is mainly distributed in Yunnan, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia and other places in China. Among them, the China-Vietnam meter-gauge railway, which runs from Kunming in the north to Haiphong in Vietnam in the south, was built more than 100 years ago and is the first international railway in China to open to traffic.
With a history of more than 100 years, the China-Vietnam meter-gauge railway is still full of vitality. In Pingbian County, Kaiyuan City, Hekou County and other places in Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, where the China-Vietnam meter-gauge railway passes, diesel locomotives full of age run on the ancient meter-gauge track, which has become a unique cultural scenery in the local area, which not only attracts a group of "railway fans" and photography enthusiasts to check in, but also plays a role in the international logistics channel effect.
Among the China-Vietnam meter-gauge international intermodal trains, nearly four have become Central Asian international freight trains. Relying on the China-Vietnam meter-gauge railway, the Central Asia international freight train was launched in December 2017, and the train departed from Kaiyuan, China, and Haiphong, Vietnam, and adopted the "five fixed" operation mode of fixed loading location, fixed running line, fixed train number, fixed arrival and departure time, and fixed transportation, and has achieved 2 to 4 trains per day.
According to the news from China Railway Kunming Bureau Group, as of December 10 this year, more than 4,260 meter-gauge Central Asia international freight trains have been operated between China and Haiphong, Vietnam, and more than 1.68 million tons of cross-border cargo transportation have been completed, effectively ensuring the rapid circulation and distribution of various materials between China and ASEAN countries, and gradually forming a cross-border transportation mode of rail-sea coordination. Especially since the beginning of this year, China Railway Kunming Bureau Group has relied on this century-old railway to continuously expand the transportation categories and scale of the rail-sea intermodal radiation area, and the sulfur imported by Middle East countries, fertilizers and other materials exported to Southeast Asia have achieved rapid circulation on this historic railway line.
