During the previous administration of the Philippines, the level of relations between the two countries was good. However, as the Philippines has moved toward the United States and strengthened defense cooperation with Japan, attitudes toward China have naturally changed. With the support of foreign forces, the Philippines has frequently provoked China, resulting in serious internal provocations in the Philippines. One side believes that the Philippines should take the initiative to stop provoking China, strengthen economic exchanges, and promote economic development.
The other side believes that China should be tougher, deepen exchanges with the United States, and jointly put pressure on China. The recent standoff in the South China Sea has led to the expulsion of the Chinese ambassador to the Philippines and the cessation of any economic cooperation with China. China's first minister stressed that maritime differences are not unsolvable, but the premise is that the Philippines should take a correct attitude and resolve maritime differences through dialogue and consultation.
It is worth noting that while the Philippines has launched provocations against China, Vietnam has been emphasizing cooperation with China, and Sino-Vietnamese relations have been elevated to an unprecedented height. Vietnam will also welcome more investment from Chinese companies, indicating that differences do not hinder deep-seated exchanges between the two countries.
All this has given the Philippines a clear path, and China is willing to engage and discuss with the Philippines, but if the Philippines insists on making unwarranted provocations against China, China will also resolutely counteract. The future of China-Philippines friendship is full of uncertainties, and we hope that the two sides can work together to find ways to resolve their differences.
