Chain of contempt in prison: A female prisoner serving a five-year sentence reported that the most despised was not the ** prisoner
I am Wang Lixin, I am 41 years old this year, and I was born in a small village in the north. In 2017, I was arrested across provinces for my involvement in pyramid schemes and ended up with a five-year prison sentence. During my time in detention centers and prisons, I witnessed a variety of human nature, and these experiences gave me a deeper understanding of the truth and complexity of human nature.
For those who have gone through prison sentences, whether in a detention center or in prison, there is an invisible chain of contempt. Although everyone broke the law and crossed the bottom line of the law, at the moral level, some people were not condemned in the same way, such as the case of Zhang Koukou.
On a deeper level, human nature also has its bottom line. Not all criminals are inhumane, and even some condemned prisoners have various reasons that drive them down the path of crime, whether it be greed, lust, or irritability. This is not a justification of crime, but an observation of what human nature really is.
In this chain of contempt, the order depends on the boldness of the individual. For example, a murderer may look down on a fighter, a fighter may look down on a robber, and so on. In the eyes of these impulsive people, daring to do "big things" proves how "good" you are. Those who commit economic crimes, on the other hand, generally look down on other criminals and consider what others are doing too lowly.
At the end of the chain of contempt is a serious challenge to humanity. Almost everyone, both in prison and outside, prisoners and guards, hate traffickers, those who abduct and sell women and children. Such crimes have crossed the bottom line of human nature, and the wounds inflicted on victims and their families are incalculable in their lifetimes. However, the punishment for these criminals is still too light.
When I was in the detention center, I met two traffickers. They didn't impress me, but the attitude they had towards me that I will never forget.
The first is Yan Chunying, a seemingly ordinary rural woman who is over forty years old. She is not tall, slightly chubby, and gives people the feeling of being honest, like an ordinary woman who raises pigs and farms the land in the countryside. However, in reality she is very cunning. When she entered the number on the first day, and when the captain wanted to register her information and ask her name and the cause of the case, she made up a lie about a neighborhood dispute.
The trumpet commander seems to be ordinary, but he is also a well-informed person. Generally speaking, women who are involved in neighborhood disputes are eloquent and start complaining as soon as they come in. Yan Chunying's eyes flickered, and she seemed unwilling to say more.
The commander angrily asked, "Honestly, what exactly happened?"
Yan Chunying remained silent.
At this time, the disciplinarian walked in and began to explain some matters. The commander then asked the disciplinarian: What crime this person has committed, and he will not say anything for a long time.
The discriminator glared at Yan Chunying in disgust and said, "Child abduction and trafficking." After saying that, he left.
The commander immediately became furious, and he stopped talking nonsense, and directly raised his hand and slapped Yan Chunying twice in the face.
Several other women couldn't stand it anymore, and stepped forward to push Yan Chunying and asked her to explain honestly.
Yan Chunying couldn't hide it, so she reluctantly confessed her crimes.
It turned out that this seemingly honest rural woman had abducted and sold a total of five children. After growing up in the countryside, she moved to the county seat. He often wanders around the morning market or in the park, staring at the children who have been separated from their parents. She would lure the children with snacks such as sugar gourds, and then collude with her husband and a fellow villager to sell the children everywhere.
After hearing about her, all the women gritted their teeth in resentment. Because most of them are mothers with children, they were already thinking about their children outside the detention center, and they were even more furious when they encountered such an inhuman woman. Even those women who are unmarried are in an innate maternal nature that feels intolerable when they hear that their children are being hurt.
What's even more infuriating is that the woman goes so far as to think that she didn't cause harm to the children and just helped them find a new family. She destroys other people's lives for money, this kind of person is really outrageous.
Since that day, the woman has been the target of public criticism, and no one seems to see her as a normal person who wants to communicate with her. Anyone can point fingers at her, and the prison administration chooses to turn a blind eye.
Once in prison, no one put money into her account, and no one needed the useless things she provided. Although she was willing to be on duty for others and exchange goods, she was not accepted. However, she never escaped the responsibility of wiping down the toilet, and if she didn't clean it, she was forced to "fly the plane".
From the moment she went to prison, wiping down the toilets and floors became her sole responsibility. If you can't wipe it clean, you will be ordered to "fly the plane".
For the first few days, she couldn't sleep every night. Gradually, she was placed in a bed near the toilet, but there was still no one to share a quilt with her, and she didn't even have a quilt to use. She could only sleep with her clothes on, her arms clasped and her body clasped.
When the prison population increased, she was transferred to the night shift, but there was no place to return, and when the sleepiness was unbearable, she could only sit on the ground and rest against the corner. And there is very little sympathy.
In the end, the woman was sentenced to fifteen years in prison. There was indignation at this outcome.
A month before I was about to leave the guard, another even worse female prisoner came in.
This surname is Jia, and he is Chinese New Year's Eve nine years old today. She was accused of abducting children and deliberately harming them for money. When the prison warden heard about this cruel method, he was even more indignant.
Originally, there was no such thing as "opening numbers" in women's prisons, and the so-called "opening numbers" meant that new prisoners were poured several basins of cold water after entering the prison. Previously, this punishment was only available in male prisons.
The warden treated the new female prisoner with special treatment, ordering her to be dragged above the toilet to shower her head, where several people took plastic basins to catch cold water and splashed it on her.
The female prisoner choked on the cold water and was speechless, and it was winter, and her teeth rattled from the cold.
The warden said that if he was not afraid of causing a commotion, he would like to press her into a basin of water.
Of course, in women's prisons, the contempt for such people is relatively mild, and the blame is relatively low.
A former female prisoner in the prison told her that a man who had served in a men's prison had told her about his experience in dealing with such people.
According to her, in men's prisons, such people have to face various rules and games when they enter, and they have to deal with all kinds of attacks at all times. Every day, you have to stick your head in the commode and smell it. Even if you request a change of room, the new place will still be the same, and you will have to start all over again. During free time, they become the object of daily accusations, and everyone can vent their grievances.
Prison conditions and management systems have been improved, and there are even independent shower facilities. In prisons more than ten years ago, there was only one commode in a room, and the whole room was defecated in that bucket, and the lid was just a cover, and it still emitted a bad smell.
As soon as these people enter, they are asked to stick their heads in the commode to smell the smell. Even if you apply for a change of room, the situation is still the same, and you have to start from scratch. During free time, they will inevitably become the object of everyone's performances, and everyone can find them to vent their anger.
I was later transferred to prison, and I don't know how many years the second female prisoner was sentenced, but I guess I can't escape a similar fate.
These stories all happened in the past, and now the prison management system is getting better and better, but I think the contempt for this kind of person is still there, but maybe the punishment has changed.
At the moment, these so-called notions of social exclusion are merely the narrow views of those who have gone on their laurels. To the outside world, the self-righteousness of these people often makes people laugh and cry. In fact, once you step into the realm surrounded by high walls, no matter what kind of illegal behavior, it will become a stain that will be difficult to get rid of for life. Not only will the individual themselves pay a heavy price, but their families will also be implicated.
The above statement is intended to outline a human experience in a particular context, to raise awareness of social norms, and to urge the public to adhere to the norms of the law. This is not advocating any negative values.
Take care of life, cherish freedom, and stay away from crime.
