On December 11, six photovoltaic companies, Canadian Solar, Risen Energy, TCL Zhonghuan, Trina Solar, Tongwei Co., Ltd., and Chint New Energy, issued the "Joint Initiative on Promoting the Design and Application of 700W+ Photovoltaic Module Standards" (hereinafter referred to as the "Initiative").
According to the initiative, China's photovoltaic industry has gone through decades of ups and downs, and with the continuous innovation of technology and the continuous expansion of scale, it has become the most competitive and influential industry in the world, bringing great contributions to the development of clean energy around the world. Over the past ten years, the industry has continuously tapped the potential of the manufacturing industry chain and photovoltaic systems, making the power of a single module upgrade from the initial 100W+ all the way to today's 700W+.
According to the progress and direction of 700W+ ultra-high power modules designed by each unit based on the standard version, as well as the China Photovoltaic Industry Association standard "T CPIA 0003-2022 Technical Requirements for Appearance Dimensions and Installation Holes of Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic Modules for Ground". The above six companies jointly propose: the design of 700W+ photovoltaic modules of each unit continues the existing standard external dimensions and technical specifications of mounting holes (module dimensions of 2384mm 1303mm, long side mounting hole spacing of 400mm and 1400mm), and increases 790mm hole positions;At the same time, the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain actively explore more efficient and leading technologies and application solutions to jointly promote the healthy development of the photovoltaic industry.
The reporter noted that when it comes to the background of the "Initiative", the above six companies said that it has become an inevitable trend of industry progress to reduce the cost of electricity by improving the efficiency and power of modules. It is worth mentioning that the upgrade of photovoltaic module products from 600W+ to 700W+ is also accompanied by the development and application of N-type high-efficiency cell technology (TOPCON, HJT, etc.) and G12 large-size silicon wafer technology.
The essence of this initiative is the combination of n-type cell technology and 210 large silicon wafers, so that the power of photovoltaic modules can exceed 700W while maintaining the same module size. In the past, in the process of silicon wafer iteration, 600W+ alliance companies were the first to embrace 210 large silicon wafers and take the lead in making the module power break through 600W. "Going from 600w+ to 700w+ is seamless. ”
In 2019, TCL Zhonghuan was the first in the industry to release 210 large silicon wafers, and the company undoubtedly participated in this initiative, and is the only silicon wafer manufacturer. The person in charge of TCL Zhonghuan told reporters that 700W+ means higher module power and efficiency, "210 large silicon wafers + N-type technology provides a direction and possibility for the acceleration of cost reduction and efficiency increase in the photovoltaic industry." ”
Judging from the statements of each company, the interpretation of this joint initiative is also more diverse. "Photovoltaic silicon wafers and modules have always been of different sizes, and due to the different sizes of each product, there are many inconveniences in other accessories and terminal installation. The person in charge of a head manufacturer who did not want to be named told reporters that because of this, several head manufacturers have been willing to speed up the unification of sizes in the past two years, "The latest initiative is mainly for large-scale components, and we have also launched other version size unification initiatives with our peers before." ”
Talking about this initiative, the relevant person in charge of the company told reporters that since the birth of 210 modules in 2020, large-version modules have been using a 2384mm 1303mm form factor, and this size will continue to be used when the industry shifts from P-type to N-type. "Now, with the upgrade from 600W+ to 700W+, we want to be able to provide users with more standardized products, and there is also a consensus among industry peers on the size of large-format modules, so we jointly released this initiative. ”
The reporter noted that since the beginning of this year, the photovoltaic industry has issued a number of proposals for size unification, among which, the largest number of manufacturers involved in the initiation is the size unification of medium-sized rectangular silicon wafer modules, and 9 companies have reached a consensus on 2382mm 1134mm modules. In August this year, Canadian Solar, LONGi Green Energy and other six companies announced that they would use rectangular silicon wafers for the 72 version 191There is a consensus on the XMM standardized size, i.e., a rectangular wafer with a margin of 1822mm*191.6mm, the diameter of the rectangular silicon wafer is 2625mm。
As for the large-scale module standardization initiative, there are no three leading companies such as JinkoSolar, JA Solar, and LONGi Green Energy among the initiators. One of the interviewed industry insiders told reporters that the 700w+ initiative is open, and other manufacturers can also join in the futureIn addition, the person stressed that the initiative to upgrade from 600W+ to 700W+ is different from the previous change of 182 camp manufacturers gradually switching to rectangular silicon wafer modules.
As for the difference, Trina Solar made a further explanation to reporters, "In the past, it was difficult for the power of 182 modules to exceed 600W, and when rectangular silicon wafers were applied, relevant companies had the opportunity to increase the module power to more than 600W, but now, it is difficult to further achieve module power of more than 700W by relying solely on 182 silicon wafers." The person also mentioned that in addition to the six companies launched by this initiative, there are already manufacturers preparing 210 large version of module products.
As for the significance of power improvement, the above-mentioned six companies said in the "Initiative" that they will comprehensively promote the standardization of photovoltaic module products and the industrialization of ultra-high power and ultra-high efficiency modules, so that upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain can get huge development space and value, achieve the best scale effect, optimize supply, improve production efficiency, reduce the cost of the industrial chain, release industrial value to a greater extent, reduce the cost of electricity, promote the maximization of the value of the application side, and contribute to the realization of the "double carbon" goal.
The reporter noticed that among the manufacturers of this joint initiative, many have released 700W+ module products. Among them, the power of Risen Energy's heterojunction Fuxi series bifacial modules can reach 690-715W, and the conversion efficiency can reach 23%.Tongwei announced last month that the company's 66-version 210 heterojunction module has a power of 7456W, the conversion efficiency breaks through 24%;In addition, Trina Solar has mass-produced 700W+ module products in August this year, and the company said that it will support the transformation of the photovoltaic industry to achieve n-type and 700W+ in technology and industrial cooperation, and export 700W+ one-stop solutions to end users to accelerate the supporting and integration of the industrial chain.
