Did you know?

The children memorized the multiplication table.

It became popular in the middle of the Warring States period.

Today (December 21).

A number of important archaeological results have been announced.

It turned out that the ancestors of Jingchu more than 2,000 years ago.

Similar multiplication formulas have been easily grasped.

And engrave this mathematical knowledge on bamboo slips.

Today, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage held a working meeting on the important progress of major projects of "Archaeological China" to release the latest archaeological progress of four projects, including the Qinjiazui cemetery in Jingzhou City, Hubei Province. Among them, in the Warring States Chu Jian unearthed from the Qinjiazui cemetery, archaeologists found the earliest multiplication formula "Ninety-Nine Techniques".

Five-seven-thirty-five.

Witness the "mathematical mind" of the ancestors of Jing Chu

The Yangtze River Cloud News reporter learned that the real multiplication formula "Ninety-Nine Techniques" was found, and the simple number was not clear. One of the brief texts reads, "Five-seven-thirty-fifty, four-seven-twenty-eight, three-seven-twenty-one."

On the left is the Qinjiazui cemetery Warring States Chu Jian's "Ninety-Nine Techniques" and on the right is Liye Qin Jian's "Ninety-Nine Table".

The ninety-nine multiplication formula is the basic calculation rule of numeracy, which has been widely used as early as the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, and is recorded in "Xunzi" and "Guanzi". Previously, the earliest multiplication formula table found in China's archaeology was the Liye Qin Jane found in Xiangxi, Hunan.

Yang Kaiyong, deputy director of Jingzhou Museum, introduced: This important discovery has advanced the earliest multiplication formula in China for more than a century, reaching the middle of the Warring States period.

In fact, a number of previous archaeological discoveries have confirmed that the ancestors of Jingchu more than 2,000 years ago already had a super "mathematical mind". For example, in 2006, a batch of precious Han tablets were unearthed from the Han Tomb at No. 77 in Yunmeng, Hubei, among which a volume of "Arithmetic" was well preserved. After expert research, it was confirmed that the content of "Arithmetic" overlapped with 7 chapters of "Nine Chapters of Arithmetic".

Unearthed in 1984 in the Han Tomb of Zhangjiashan, Hubei Province, the "Book of Arithmetic" was recognized by the archaeological community as at least 200 years earlier than the "Nine Chapters of Arithmetic", and is the most complete mathematical monograph obtained from the first ancient excavation. Its discovery fills the gap in the study of the history of mathematics in China, and its academic value is comparable to that of the Babylonian clay tablets and the papyrus of ancient Egypt.

Multiple "first discoveries".

Fill in a number of archaeological gaps

Qinjiazui Cemetery is located in the Jinan Ecological and Cultural Tourism Zone of Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, about 1 km away from the ruins of the ancient capital of Chu in the west, and is a cemetery in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty.

The M1093 tomb where Chu Jian was discovered is located in the central and western part of the Qinjiazui cemetery. After the first phase of indoor protection treatment of Jingzhou Cultural Relics Protection Center, a total of 3,910 bamboo slips were uncovered, with a word count of about 30,000 words, which is the largest number of soil Chu slips and the most words in a single tomb known at present, and is an important Chu slip discovery in Hubei and even the whole country in recent years.

The Yangtze River Cloud News reporter learned that these brief articles are rich in content, covering many categories such as pre-Qin "books", "languages", Zhuzi, mathematics, medicine, animal husbandry, literature, etc., many of which are discovered for the first time.

Yang Kaiyong, deputy director of Jingzhou Museum, introduced that through the collation and research of unearthed bamboo slipsThe most complete school journal was discovered, Shangshu Lu Xing, which is a well-known document describing the reform of King Mu in the Western Zhou Dynasty, filling in the gaps in the historical record.

In addition,The most complete details of ancient historical records have been discovered, such as the "Four Kings and Five Tyrants", which proposes that King Wen of Chu is listed as one of the "five tyrants".

Among them,There are also two brief texts of "Song of the Marquis of Qi Zhuang Invasion of the Jin Dynasty" and "Shuyu Admonishing the Pinggong of Jin Zhuang", although the characters and events recorded in the "Zuo Chuan" and "Historical Records" and other hand-me-down documents, the description of the characters and the records of the events in the brief text are richer, enriching the details of the hand-me-down documents.

A mantra that has been handed down to this day.

Tell the story of the millennium.

Evidence of the constant publication of archaeological finds.

The 5,000-year-old civilization has never been interrupted.

Perhaps, the future is in this land of thorns.

There's so much more that strikes us.

Archaeological results are released.
