It is a natural law that cold comes and goes, and then there is the "autumn harvest and winter storage" waiting.
Looking back suddenly, I have been chasing the star of China's chemical industry for half a year, half a year, my footprints have traveled all over most of China, to my gratification, by the glory of the sages, along the way has been the care and support of many aspiring friends, and has met many friends with affection and righteousness, or the star-chasing team is getting bigger and bigger like a snowball. At this point, the first draft of Hou Debang's documentary literature of more than 200,000 words has also been obtained. The rest of the time will continue to dig up new stories and polish them. At this point, I felt a little relieved.

With the help of Mr. Chen Si from the Propaganda Department of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, I followed the footsteps of the founder Hou Debang on July 4, 2023 and walked into the campus of Beijing University of Chemical Technology located in the North Third Ring Road, tracing the story of Hou Debang's donation of 510 books, and getting acquainted with Mr. Chang Xiaohui and Mr. Du Yuan of the University History Museum. On August 17th, I came to Beijing University of Chemical Technology again. Teacher Chen Si of the Propaganda Department. Wang Yongtao, vice president of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and Zhai Fengan, an 86-year-old professor, were invited to recall the story of Hou Debang and Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology.
The enthusiastic teacher Chen Si invited me to visit the new campus in Changping at my convenience, and she told me that there was an exhibition of the 60th anniversary of the founding of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and there were many stories and legends of Hou Debang and Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology, which made me very excited.
Changping Campus of Beijing University of Chemical Technology is located in the beautiful Nankou Town, Changping District, 40 kilometers away from the downtown, near the Huyu Scenic Area, and overlooking the Badaling-Ming Tombs Scenic Area, covering an area of 1,789 acres. Adhering to the concepts of exchange and sharing, characteristic humanities, green ecology and sustainable development, the construction of Changping Campus will be carried out in three phases according to the principle of "one planning, phased implementation", which will meet the needs of 18,300 students and 1,500 faculty and staff in Xi, work and life after completion.
On June 12, 2014, the Changping Campus officially launched the campus infrastructure construction work. On September 28, 2015, the construction of the first phase of the single project was launched. On September 2, 2017, the Changping Campus was officially opened. The total area of the first phase of the building is 34470,000 square meters, including the first teaching building, library, gymnasium, laboratory building, engineering training center, teacher apartments, student dormitories, canteens and other 10 single buildings.
On November 30, 2023, when a Beijinger said that it was very cold and the flu was still prevalent, I met with Zhao Yuanyuan, deputy director of the editor-in-chief office of Chemical Industry Press, Master Li Jinhu, teacher Wang Darong and my son Ye Chen to walk into the new campus in Changping. Teacher Chen Si was warm and thoughtful to help us get the work of vehicles, ID card registration, code scanning and other work in advance, and Teacher Chang Xiaohui and Teacher Du Yuan greeted each other with smiling faces, which made us feel the warmth of spring in the cold winter.
Walking into the school history museum of the new campus, let us see what is broad and grand, let us envy the breeze and bright moon, picturesque eyes, and warm winter sun here. In the long Jiazi promenade, there is a cloud of smoke and history.

Teacher Du Yuan stepped on a chair and carefully removed the suitcase that had traveled around the world with Hou Debang for a hundred years, which made us overjoyed. This suitcase, which has endured a hundred years of wind and rain, is full of vicissitudes and cracks appear in many places. At that time, when Chinese could only use camphor wood boxes, Hou Debang used fashionable foreign leather boxes, which witnessed Hou Debang's decades of bitterness and innocence. Hou Debang's descendants have a deep relationship with Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and sent this precious relic of Hou Debang to Beijing University of Chemical Technology for collection. When we asked if we could open the box to see, Teacher Chang Xiaohui said firmly, absolutely not!"We are trying to take protective measures to repair the cracks and make glass cases for special preservation," she said. Teacher Chang Xiaohui said that when sorting out the information, he had seen the "Registration Form for Part-time Personnel of the Ministry of Chemical Industry and Subordinate Units of the Institute", which included the part-time course of Deputy Minister Hou Debang. I regret the lack of historical information about this past, and I hope she will help find a way to make up for it.
