Shu Xingyu, a post-90s agricultural professional manager and a graduate of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, shared with the young people present his story of returning to the countryside from the city, empowering agriculture with science and technology, and writing youth on the field of hope.

At the end of 2019, Shu Xingyu resigned from a company in Chengdu with good prospects and treatment, returned to his hometown in Chongzhou, brought modern agricultural technology back to his hometown, and became the earliest "new farmer" in the village with a partner in his hometown. "In the past, farmers watched the sky to eat, but now the 'new farmers' know the sky, and our planting process is more modern and mechanized."
He admits that in fact, at first, the villagers did not understand their behavior. But after only a few days, the convenience of technology made the villagers change their attitudes. Shu Xingyu and his partners have lived up to expectations, planting rice that not only yields more, but also costs less, and increased the villagers' incomes by at least 15 percent.
Later, Shu Xingyu set up a professional cooperative to realize the whole process of machine operation of ploughing, transplanting, spraying, harvesting and drying. His cooperative has also attracted more young people back to their hometowns, and its membership has grown from a few to 31 today. The average age of the members of this young "new farmer" team is less than 27 years old, and the youngest is only 19 years old this year.
In 2023, Shu Xingyu and his team will help the villagers plant a total of 40,000 mu of land, and the cooperative's more than 20,000 mu of land will harvest more than 20 million catties of rice and wheat.
Such a harvest was unimaginable to my parents' generation. Therefore, my father has always told me to be grateful for this era and the development of science and technology. Shu Xingyu said that it is science and technology that supports the "new farmers" to chase the "dream of enjoying the cool air under Hexia" and contribute the strength of young people to the construction of Tianfu granary.
Shu Xingyu told reporters that although it has reached the end of the year, he and his team are very busy this December. "I went to many places in Sichuan Province, and I also went to Hebei and other places to teach the experience of large-scale planting, and also to see if we can develop new markets and prepare for next year. ”
He hopes that next year, he and his team will bring the standardized operation model to more places and plant the hope of a bumper harvest in a wider land. At the same time, Shu Xingyu also hopes that more and more young people are willing to return to the land, "through our efforts, we will attract more young people to join our team of 'new farmers', contribute to the construction of Tianfu granary, and write the youth of 'new farmers' on the vast land." ”
