Fast Technology reported on December 3 that according to a number of domestic reports, the AS700 civil manned airship independently developed by the Aviation Industry Special Flight Institute recently passed the qualification project review, and it is recommended to issue a type certificate.

According to reports, the AS700 manned airship project was developed in June 2018 and launched in August of the same year, with a total of 3 boats produced, one of which is a technical verification boat and two are airworthiness verification boats.

The project is a research and development project approved through continuous key technology research under the background of the country's policy of vigorously promoting supply-side reform, vigorously developing the general aviation industry, improving the emergency rescue equipment system and promoting the development of low-altitude tourism equipment manufacturing industry.

In the future, the AS700 manned airship will have a wide range of application prospects in the fields of tourism, aerial advertising, aerial geophysical prospecting, emergency rescue, marine monitoring, and cargo transportation.

It is understood that the AS700 manned airship is a conventional single-capsule layout, streamlined airbag shape, "X" layout hard tail, and non-retractable single-point landing gear.

It adopts a single-pilot system, can carry up to 9 passengers, has a maximum range of 700 kilometers, a maximum flight time of 10 hours, and a maximum flight speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

In terms of safety, the AS700 adopts a lightweight polymer capsule material and a highly reliable anti-tear structure design, and is equipped with a helium safety valve to prevent the airbag from overpressurization, and has a safe landing capability in the event of a double engine or control system failure.

The AS700 officially passed the qualification review, which also represents another improvement in China's technology in the field of airships.
